I am using one on a 12 volt system and 5 on 500 milivolt systems. It should also work on a 24 volt system. It should be noted that this thermostat receives power to run the display and electronics from 2 AAA batteries that last a long time. These are required on a 500 milivolt system. The batteries can be omitted on a 12 or 24 volt system if (and only if) you have a 3 wire connection to the thermostat. The 3rd wire is the common terminal (which is not required for a mechanical thermostat with no clock, light, or electronics). You may use the batteries with a 3 wire system that doesn't need them. I believe this will cause it to hold its setting if the power goes out and comes back on. I believe (but am not sure) that the setting will be lost on a 3 wire system without batteries if the power goes out. On a 500 milivolt system the batteries are required. **Q: Does this work on a gas fireplace with a 2 wire setup?** A: I am using this thermostat on a 2 wire setup. It works fine. It is for heat only. **Q: Does this work for 12v DC furnace for camper/travel trailers?** A: Yes. I replaced the OEM thermostat that failed the first night in my 2017 Airstream with this exact model TH11000-1000 three years ago and it's worked great ever since. And I had the same model in my little camping trailer as well.
