Honey's Hive: Bee a Friend : O'Hara, Mo, Kakeda, Aya: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: Bee daring! - I had seen the first book of Honey’s Hive and it really appealed to me. Also I like the author, Mo O’Hara from her Agent Moose graphic novels. So I was really pleased to get a copy of this book to read and review. Honey’s Hive - Bee a Friend is the second book in the series about a hive of bees and in particular Honey, who is a kind and helpful bee, always trying to do her best but not always getting it right. In this book, Honey and her friends explore the wider world of bees and find some new bee friends and try to solve a problem about sharing flowers so they all can eat. This book is a fun story, very positive in outlook and children will relate to the characters. Interspersed with the story are interesting bee facts from the author, to help the reader understand more about bees and other insects. The book has an important message about thinking of others and not just being out for yourself and will promote empathy in its readers as well as reminding us all to help the bees ourselves. Review: a wonderfully wholesome tale with a very powerful moral - This is a wonderfully wholesome tale with a very powerful moral. Honey is a bee who is a scout or her hive; it's her job to find the nectar, but her fellow hive=-mates end up taking too much and leaving next to nothing for the other bees in the neighbourhood. It takes a wasp attack to make Honey's hive-mates realise that it's okay to share and to be helpful (which is the moral of the tale.) This is a quick and very amusing read with a lot of interesting facts about bees. The illustrations were also really sweet too.
