This kit was great. It was easy enough to figure out and i was able to knock it out in a weekend.

Great craft to do with kids

I have been doing plastic canvas for a looooong time. I usually just look at pictures of patterns and count the stitches myself to create what I want. Sometimes I create my own patterns when needed. This is just to establish that I am not a beginner. I saw the pictures of these boxes and thought they were cute and looked simple enough, something I can do to ease my stress after work and then just give away. I recognized the goblin stitch but couldn’t figure out the stitch around the edges of the box top, and decided it was worth ordering rather than spending more time trying to figure out the stitch. When I received the order, I opened the package and took out the “instructions” that are meant for beginners, which consist of one page of tiny print, small pictures that don’t show any detail, and worst of all, NO instructions on how to do the stitch around the box top edges! The instructions include a QR code that takes you to a video which basically walks you through how to make the box from beginning to end, which would be great, except that like the instructions on paper, the video is hard to see. The camera is at an angle to the stitching and not zoomed in on what is happening. Even with a practiced eye, I had a very difficult time deciphering what was going on. This would be a disaster for a beginner! I remember my first plastic canvas kit and many more after it, with large, well labeled, step by step instructions for any and every stitch included in the pattern. The diagrams were accompanied by descriptions that laid out exactly what to do, and I was able to follow them and complete my projects. This is NOT the case with this kit. A beginner will end up frustrated, lost, or just end up creating something entirely wrong through no fault of their own. I give three stars because the kit makes cute boxes, they are easily done if you get the instructions figured out, and it includes everything you need, from the needle threader and needle to the scissors and yarn. In that respect, it is a good kit for a beginner because they would not have to buy all of the supplies in order to get started, but then, most plastic canvas kits will include all of these things, minus the scissors, and also have much better instructions. If you are an experienced plastic canvas crafter, this is a nice easy project. If you have some experience, you can probably do fine with this kit. If you are a complete beginner and have never touched plastic canvas before, try a different kit than this one first…maybe even a crafting book with plenty of diagrams…you will save yourself a lot of frustration (and if you are like me, you craft to get rid of frustration, not cause more).

The paper instructions don’t make any sense as well as the YouTube video they have a QR code for. Since I’m crafty I was able to figure it out, but with a lot of mistakes. Definitely don’t buy if you’re not crafty, a beginner, or have zero patience. I do love the colors of the wool though!

Very poor instructions - essentially nonexistent - especially for beginners. I am a very experienced craft person, and these instructions were useless. Trying to teach a class in this and will not use. cute boxes once assembled.

Was so excited to get this I opened it and wanted to get started right away. I am very disappointed in the product. First the trinket boxes you are going to make are very small 3" square x 1.5" high. Second you need to know cross stitch stitches very well because instruction sheet is terrible. The sheet is very small and broken down into 15 tiny little pictures showing you what your finished stitching area looks like but you are not able to count the stitches you are supposed to be making or anything. Guess they will make cute little boxes to give a small piece of jewelry in but not much else. Definitely not for beginners as advertised.

Didn’t like the instructions they are tiny and hard to see.
