Review: A book to teach valuable skills to all ages - I am a retired teacher and have seen many children's books. I wrote a picture book myself and drew/painted illustrations. This book is a gem. It teaches young and older humans to gather information and cross check information in order to develop a truthful conclusion. The graphics are well chosen. I would have chosen less harsh freckled faces than what I see in the book. I also would have included multicultural children/people. I love the cave and ship image. It was fun doing "I spy with my little eye" with my grandson. The book is written well and systematically teaches the importance of evaluating what you hear in the news and social media as truth or lies. I think the level is perfect for children and students ages 10-18. It is also useful for older teens and and young adults. Ok, adults that lack the knowledge and skills of picking out truth in the media cesspool would benefit from this book. It see how it would aid in teaching adults how to evaluate what is read or heard in the media/social media platforms. David, great job writing this book! Some Illustrations could have been better illustrated and chosen. Thank you!!!!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Unraveling Mysteries with Critical Thinking: A Review of 'Think Like a Detective'
*by A***O on July 24, 2023*

Title: Think Like a Detective Author: David Pakman "Think Like a Detective" by David Pakman is an engaging and thought-provoking piece that makes the process of critical thinking an enjoyable adventure. Right from the cover, featuring a young detective with a magnifying glass, readers are intrigued and ready to embark on a journey of questioning and discovery. The book starts with an impactful quote from Albert Einstein, reminding us of the significant role curiosity plays in our place in the world. The intention is clear: to empower young minds with a superpower, a shield against disinformation and a tool for unravelling the mysteries of the world. The strength of asking questions, thoughtfully and persistently, is a recurrent theme that Pakman effectively introduces to his young readers' minds. Pakman successfully translates complex ideas into simple, digestible scenarios. He stresses the importance of examining all available evidence before jumping to conclusions - a valuable lesson in a world where snap judgments are all too common. Moreover, his discussion on distinguishing facts from opinions is a breath of fresh air, a critical lesson that, if taught early, could greatly improve the way we engage with information as adults. The introduction to probabilities is handled subtly and effectively, sparking interest without overwhelming younger readers. Humor isn't left out, with a light-hearted jab at Donald Trump, delivered tastefully and in good fun. What makes "Think Like a Detective" uniquely appealing is its framing of information handling. Pakman encourages readers to form tentative conclusions rather than cling fast to beliefs or assumptions. This approach minimizes emotional bias and personal identity, promoting a healthier and more objective mindset. The book concludes on an optimistic note, urging young readers to continue honing their detective skills. The variances in the physical appearance of the book cover (I purchased four copies) was notable – two looked almost brown and the other two red – but this won’t be a big issue for most folks nor was it with me. In summary, "Think Like a Detective" is an essential addition to a child's reading list and a delightful read even for adults. Its message is crucial, and its approach is refreshingly enjoyable. I strongly recommend this book and have even kept extra copies on hand to share with those interested in teaching skepticism to young minds.
