Love this thing! Waited for a sale, but worth every penny. Last trash can I’ll need to buy unless I want a smaller one. Lid works great and the bag is hidden so it looks very clean!

My career was in engineering so the first thing I scrutinize is quality. This container has a sturdy body and will not dent easily, the lid is just as rugged as the body. I have had mine for over a month now and all I have had to do is wipe the lid and foot pedal down with a damp sponge and that was only to get the dust off of it. With daily use, and an active dog, the surface finish still looks as good as it did coming out of the box. I really like the way the lid hides the bag, so no need to hide this trash can from view. Mine is out in the open where everyone can see it, it is that attractive, strange to have compliments about a trash can, but I do get them.The soft close lid is silence to my ears, compared to the loud bag lid on my old trash can.Great idea to have a deodorizer holder inside of the can, it really does keep the smell out of my kitchen.I never thought I would spend this much on a trash can, but I also realize in regards to this trash can the price is worth great quality. I would really recommend this to anyone, you won't be disappointed. I look forward to years of use.

30 gallon (113 L) bags are good fit for this "16" gallon (60 L) can.2'6" x 2'8" fits very well with about 2 to 3 inches hanging over the outside of the top.These are available at dollar, grocery and big box stores everywhere.Store brands seem to work as well as name brands. The sample bags that come with the can are a VERY tight fit.The can? Oh, yes, the can.It's as advertised. Box arrived undamaged and factory sealed. Can was undamaged. Lid works properly and silently (for now). Foot pedal works properly and silently (for now). It has to sit about 3 inches from wall because hinge mechanism protrudes to the rear.Overall, it's a large, nice looking can that works well (for now). I like it.UPDATE; After about 3 months, still worklng fine.Someone asked about opening by hand .... Simply lift up on the ring/band that holds the bag in place. Works fine, I do it all the time.2 YEAR UPDATE: ***** (5-star) HAS NOT MISSED A BEAT !!!!A few months ago Amazon was offering Hefty bags at a big discount, so I bought a few boxes. Works great.The can has been knocked around a bit and one of the cats likes to sleep on top of the can (???), but it is still shiney brite and shows no dings or scratchs. I like it !!!!Three year update --/-- still works fine !!!!!

This is a solid and aesthetically appealing trashcan. We had an old Simplehuman with a plastic pedal for 11+ years, and the pedal broke so we'd glue it back and it'd break in a different spot again, etc. So finally we got this as a replacement a few months ago. Regular 13 gallon bags fit ok without the bag slipping down if you don't want to spend extra money for the form fitting 'J' size bags.The main reason for writing this review is to address the poor reviews that have to do with either a creaking/groaning noise from the hinge and the 'violent snapping' noise from the locking liner rim. These two annoyances seem to have made people grow to hate this trashcan. First, the creaking noise also happened to ours as well (within a few months). It seems to be due to the metal push rod rubbing against the plastic part of the lid that makes it open. I think after some use this mechanical assembly 'settles in' a little and the noise is from the friction/rubbing. Yes, this probably should be engineered out by Simplehuman (if anyone from the company is reading this). But the simple fix that costs nothing and 10 seconds of your time is to take a small piece of electrical tape (I used the standard black variety), open up the lid and liner all the way to keep it held open, and tape around the top of the metal push rod you see exposed. That should do it. No more 'creaking/groaning' noise when you open it. Simplehuman could just put a piece of tape or teflon to address this and no one would be complaining anymore about this.As others have pointed out, to avoid the loud snapping noise when closing the liner rim, when the lid and the liner rim are in the fully open position and you want to close the liner rim, just reach underneath the liner rim and with your thumbs and pull outward on both sides and close the rim so that the rim isn't forced down past the curved plastic guides (these are on the sides of the hinge area to keep the lid open when changing a bag). This makes the closing process quiet. You shouldn't just push down on the lid and force them closed at the same time or the liner rim will snap down violently (and probably eventually break the plastic guides or the lid).That's all. Hope this helps some folks regain their sanity with this trashcan.

I’ve been eyeing garbage cans from simply human for a while but always felt as they were too expensive. When the motor in our current automatic opening trash can went out, I started looking again. I came across this one at a more reasonable price compared to the others, and with a 10 year warranty, I was compelled to go for it. I’m glad I did. The size is great. Not too big that’s it’s an eyesore but not so small that it’s needing to be emptied every other day (like our other trash can). It also came with 10 bags and a fragrance pod which was a nice bonus. It’s sleek and very nice looking. The lid closes quietly and bag fits perfect. I deducted one start because it did have a few scratches on it. Nothing terribly noticeable but for the price I felt it should be in perfect condition. I considered sending it back for a replacement but didn’t wanna go through the hassle. Overall I would recommend this product.

This can is the perfect size for my kitchen. I love the rounded front as opposed to the 50 liter rectangular version that I was using. It’s a little taller I think but it still feels like it takes up less space. The kid consistently opens when I step on the step. I trust SimplyHuman every time. This stainless can is so easy to clean as well. It’s highly durable and easy to use. I recommend getting the Odosorb odor control for it. I do wish SimplyHuman would integrate the Odosorb holder into the lid of all their sizable cans like this one. The Odosorb holder keeps coming off of mine.

Simple human trash cans are pricey, but very nice quality. Their “no finger print” coating they use on their stainless steel is very nice…and it does keep finger prints off the can. We have two cats and they like to jump on the can to get onto the countertops…and we never see cat paw prints on the lid. My only complaint is that the stainless steel is very thin and dents easily. We had purchased another Simplehuman trash can a year or two ago (different model) and it ended up getting a lot of “out dents” all over the sidewalls from pressing down the garbage with my hand to make room for more trash. Anything hard…bottles, cans, hard edged trash, etc.) will push outwards when you press down the trash and will dent the can from the inside. For the amount of money these cans cost, they need to add a padded layer to the inside to prevent denting. I learned from the last one…so I had a old yoga mat that I cut down to line the interior walls of the can. The mat is a 1/4” thick, so it doesn’t take up any space. I used gorilla glue brand duct tape to secure it in place. We’ve had the can for 3 weeks and so far, so good. I should point out the “out-dent” issue can happen with ALL stainless steel/metal trash cans…it’s not just an isolated problem for Simplehuman trash cans. I only bring it up because of the cost for these cans. They should be better in that aspect. Despite this, I highly recommend this can. Also…if you’ve got a family of 4+, I’d highly recommend getting the larger version of this can. We only have 2 people using this particular can and it fills up pretty quickly.

Honestly, since December 2015 we have owned four bins. We left in our old house our 7 yr old simple human bin and foolishly throughh that £100.00 was too much to pay so bought a less expensive bin. Big mistake, we have paid vastly more. SoI was a little concerned about this new bin and despite our lay out thus far still felt £100.00 too much to pay. I take it back this bin is fabulous. Not only do the bags fit but the lid opens and closes as required. I can put wet refuse into my bin without getting into a mess.Since 2015 previous bins have not been simplehuman.Bin one opened remotely and closed when it felt like it. Even our cockapoo opened the lid usually on her way to hid as the whiring noise the bin made terrified her.Bin two had a push top which lacerated your hand if you were not careful and sometimes when you believed you were careful.. When it cut the grandchildren it had to go.Bin three. had to have the lid pressed several times to open and at three months died. In the end you had to turn it upside down to open it or use a knife to lift it upBin four is the simplehiman _ it appears to be the updated version of our previous bin, the bags fit reducing cleaning; the foot penal is robust and easy to clean, the surface is fingerproof resistant - this works my grandchildren have tested it. It has no rough edges and responds when I ask it to and not when it feels like it.Lets hope this gives us anything like the life of my old one pre December 2015.Very happy customer. Thanks
