Excellent video quality and great value for the price
I’m very impressed with the VIOFO A119 Mini 2. The video quality is excellent both during the day and at night thanks to the STARVIS sensor — license plates and details are very clear. The camera is compact and discreet, so it doesn’t block my view while driving. Installation was straightforward, and the app is easy to use. It records reliably, starts automatically with the car, and the footage feels solid and trustworthy. Overall, this dash cam offers great performance, reliability, and value for the price. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a high-quality dash cam.

Excellent Dash Cam with Superb Video Quality and Smart Features
I’ve been using the VIOFO Dash Cam A119 Mini 2 for a few weeks now, and I’m genuinely impressed—it’s easily one of the best dash cams I’ve owned! 📹 Video Quality (StarVIS 2 Sensor) The standout feature for me is the StarVIS 2 sensor. Daytime footage is crisp and detailed in 2K at 60fps, and night recordings are surprisingly clear thanks to HDR and the advanced sensor. License plates, street signs, and other details are easy to read, which gives real peace of mind in case you ever need evidence. ⚡ Smooth and Reliable Performance Recording is consistent, and I’ve had zero dropped files or glitches. The combination of 2K@60fps and HDR (at 30fps) means the footage is both smooth and high-contrast—great for capturing fast motion and tricky lighting conditions like tunnels or bright sun. 🗣️ Voice Control The voice control feature is more useful than I expected. Simple commands like “Emergency Lock” let me secure footage without fumbling for buttons while driving. It’s convenient and helps keep my focus on the road. 📦 Compact & Easy to Install The A119 Mini 2 is small and unobtrusive. It doesn’t block my view, and the installation was straightforward—just plug into the 12V outlet and stick it to the windshield. The build feels solid, and the menu system is intuitive once you get the hang of it. 🔌 Power & Parking Mode Options With a proper hardwire kit (optional), this supports parking mode, which is a huge bonus for monitoring your car while parked. Loop recording works perfectly and overwrites old footage without issue. 👍 Final Thoughts Overall, the VIOFO A119 Mini 2 is excellent value for the price. Fantastic video quality, reliable performance, helpful smart features like voice control, and a compact design make it a top choice for daily drivers. I’d highly recommend it to anyone who wants a dash cam that truly delivers when you need it most!

Dead in 7 weeks. Revived twice.
I purchased this camera as well as the kit to allow parking recording on April 10 2025. It worked well paired with a 128GB SD card for 3 weeks. The parking recording feature began beeping and not recording. The only solution I could find was to switch to low bitrate recording. Ok fine, I did that though I wanted triggered recordings enabled. May 28th it stopped working all together. Only the left LED illuminates, no other functions. I power cycled it as well as reseating it on the base. No change. I submitted a ticket through the manufacturer website a week ago, no response! I really expected better from this product and company given their good reviews and strong recommendations from "influencers". Lesson learned. No more VIOFO equipment for me. I'm glad I waited before buying units for my other 4 cars. 6/12/25 Update, I created an account on the VIOFO website then requested help again. This time they responded, claiming my first ticket was not received. I was advised to update the firmware and given a link to the firmware I updated to when I received the dash cam. I performed the update, which revived the dead camera. It also factory reset the camera. I proceeded to reconfigure my settings. The parking recording remains limited to "low bitrate recording" rather than event triggered recording. The camera has been working again for 2 days now. I will update both my rating of the product as well as this review as time goes on. I'm happy the camera is working again. Not happy that it "forgot" how to camera and needed the same firmware reloaded. If I have to reload and reconfigure the camera every 2 months, it isn't a good value to me. I requested an option to backup and restore settings from within the app, which I was told would roll out in the next firmware update. Time will tell. The lesson here. Create an account on the VIOFO website before submitting tickets. Then you and they can track ticket progress. I truly hope to upgrade my rating to 5 star eventually, but I'm not there yet currently going from 1 to 3 star. 7/2/25 Update. After reflashing the firmware using my original Samsung SD card the camera operated for exactly 1 week before becoming unresponsive again. During that time, parking recording only worked in low bitrate mode. During the week it worked again, I acquired a VIOFO brand SD card at the recommendation of the manufacturer. I installed it during that week. Parking recording continued to only work in low bitrate. I reinstalled the firmware 1 more time. This time from the VIOFO SD card. It has worked flawlessly since, including having event based recording enabled. The SD card is definitely high quality construction and packaging. I have updated my rating to 4 stars now. In my opinion this camera requires their SD card in order to perform the operations advertised. I believe a card should be included with the camera, or required to be bundled with it in order to purchase. It would save the company and customer significant hassle and wasted time if this were the case. At minimum, stating that a VIOFO card is required for proper operation, rather than recommended would be an improvement. I have run Sandisk, Samsung, and several other makes in many gadgets and never had this kind of issue simply because of the card chosen. I now have the Samsung card in my camcorder, working great.

Great product, no complaints a year in
This is a really good dash cam. The video quality is excellent both day and night and it has had no issues in the almost year since I've installed it. I'm thoroughly surprised at how well it's held up in the heat, I installed it last fall and was a bit worried that the adhesion might fail in the summer, or that the device may overhead, but I've had no issues with either thus far. Install was pretty straightforward, I got the additional cable so it could be hardwired in, and while I wasn't able to get the always-on passive monitoring to work for me I'm pretty sure that's just due to a lack of understanding on my part and the confusing work of Volkswagen cars. I ended up routing the wires along the top edge of the windscreen, through the front driver side pillar, and down into the power box. The device itself is very small, and easy to hide behind the mirror or another part of the car where it won't obstruct your view, which is ideal in my opinion. The final result in my vehicle was a nearly invisible dash cam with only a couple inches of exposed wires, nothing blocking my view while driving but the whole thing is easy to access if needed.

Great cam. Excellent video quality.
Edit: I finally got through to their support. It turned out that I had gotten a faulty cam, so they sent me a new one, which works perfectly. No constant buzzing sound. Now that I have a working cam, I have to say it's really good. Perfect clear picture. Excellent video quality. Easy setup. Easy install. It's easy to find a spot where it's almost hidden due to its small size. All in all, I'm 100% satisfied, now that I got a working cam without the loud buzzing. Old: Horrible cam. The image quality is good, but it has a constant buzzing sound. It's so loud that nothing else can be heard. Useless as a dash cam. I tried contacting their support, but they never got back to me. Not exactly brilliant.

Great dash cam for the money. About the iOS app/files/GPS. Real customer service.
I have one video uploaded, but I cropped out my own screen data that includes my license plate (plate data can be added in the app). You’ll get the idea of the image quality, but I believe that Amazon compresses this. It looks better than what is uploaded. I had a thinkware F50 from 2017 that I am upgrading because I burnt it out by accidentally connecting it to 12 V directly. My bad. As I looked to replace my old dash cam, I came across Viofo and the new a119mini 2 with GPS, Sony starvis2 and capacitor (a must in Florida) vs cam with an internal battery. The quality for both daytime driving and nighttime exceeds my old cam. Huge difference, but we are also talking a model from 2017 to 2024 release date, in all fairness. I want to note that I am not using the viofo polarizer and the image is still really good. I am certain I could benefit a little bit from the polarizer by getting rid of some windshield glare and reflection. But for me, having no polarizer does not hurt the image quality. It is difficult to quantify, but in my opinion, a big part of capturing an image is to get a license plate number if needed for identifying a vehicle. My old cam would sometimes fail to resolve plates in high contrast situations, which are often with bright days in Florida and was too grainy at night or in rain. It may have been the frame rate, too, that caused the old cam issues. I am using this new camera with the higher frame rate and middle resolution, based on some car gear review I saw. Bottom line, I’m getting way better images with this camera than the older camera. Customer service is also great. I had an issue that others were reporting, too, that I could not see the GPS data in the ios app. I heard back from customer service in a few days with detailed instructions. There was a misunderstanding on my part on how to obtain the GPS tracking data. It is not visible while viewing the camera footage in the first gallery. It must be downloaded and then viewed within the app in the downloaded My Media menu area (pancake menu in upper left gets you there as of Oct 2024 app release). That is where the GPS tracking data attaches, and shows the map. You just have to get to it a different way it appears than from what users say was available in an older version of the app. Also, the little gaps between video review that people complain about is by design. You aren’t missing any data. It’s just ending on one file and starting a new file. This is just part of the looping structure of the video clips that are taken. Any good dash cam should do this. But, I suggest also allowing the camera to do smaller sized video clips. This can be done right in the camera settings. This makes them easier to download. Having the little 2 minute clips is much easier to download. Even the small clips at high resolution can be upwards of 500 MB. That is a big file to share. Imagine trying to share a clip of the entire duration of your drive. These settings can be done while connected to the camera via wifi. Yes Wi-Fi, not Bluetooth. There are many complaints in iOS app reviews about connecting the phone to the camera. The camera does not connect via Bluetooth to the iphone. It connects via Wi-Fi. Think of it as its own little Wi-Fi hotspot. Based on some of the comments I am reading, it seems like people think that they should have their home Wi-Fi and also be able to connect to the camera. Or they keep thinking that the dash cam should be a Bluetooth device. This is not the case when the camera and the phone are connected. I do get my phone service data simultaneously (I don’t know if this is specific to carriers, but I can’t connect to the phone and still browse using my LTE or 5G on iPhone 14). To connect, turn wifi on (right lower button under camera screen). Open phone and join the new hotspot (camera will speak a wifi connected confirmation). Then open app and connect to camera. App now can control camera, review video, download and see GPS data and offer ability to share images and video to others. I was not provided a dash cam nor was I paid or rewarded to write this review.

Compact, Reliable, and Recommended
I purchased the VIOFO A119 Mini 2 with the GPS module after it was recommended by a coworker, and I’ve been very satisfied with it so far. The video quality is clear, the size is compact, and it’s been reliable in daily use. Overall, it’s a solid dash cam and I’m happy with the purchase.

A119 Mini 2 w/ remote control bundle for semi truck
First to note, this lost 1 star because in the remote control bundle it does not state anywhere that the settings feature is NOT compatible with the A119 Mini 2, only when you view the listing for just the remote control. The remote control settings were an important feature for me because I use this in my semi truck and it's not safe for me to get out of my seat to reach over to the dash cam and I wanted to change the settings of some buttons. If they add this feature to the A119 Mini 2 it will be 5 stars. Anyways, after going over all of the bundles and price comparing the add-ons, I found that for what I wanted, the best value for me was to get the remote control bundle and buy separately the recommended name brand Micro SD card, and also the polarized lense. I did not need the parking feature. I got this to use in both my personal vehicle and in my daily vehicle, a 2020 Peterbilt 579. Because I'm using it in 2 different vehicles, I did not use the double sided sticky for window adhesion provided though it seemed like a very good adhesion. I instead put velcro on the the back of the dash cam and have velcro on the windshield of my Jeep and semi. some shaking is noticable as there is some wiggle with velcro, but it does not disrupt the visibility. I also have the remote control velcro'd on the dash of my semi. The dash cam was smaller than expected in person, especially the screen, but that was only a plus to me as I wasn't too happy with the general appearance of it to begin with(just a style thing, it looks old lol) Instructions were easy to follow and everything works as it should. There are various display settings and I'm not really sure which one I should go with, may consult with my more knowledgeable-on-the-subject fiance. The Micro SD card I got was 256gb and I may get a bigger one still as when you drive for up to 11 hours, you get a lot of footage. There are 3 ways to retrieve footage, the slowest way is through the app over wifi to your phone. it can take 10+ minutes to download a 3 minute video. Now I just hook it up to my computer, except the only downfall is on my computer I don't get thumbnail previews like I do in the app. this can be annoying when trying to find a specific clip. Sometimes there's a little trouble connecting to the dash cam via wifi, but usually all you have to do is close the app and try again. I do have an S10+ so that could have something to do with it being an older phone. It has some weight to it and generally feels and looks like good quality, my fiance is considering getting one for his vehicles. I watched Project Farm's video comparing various brands and models and almost got the A119 V3 when I saw people mentioning the Mini 2 being newer and working better in some departments. Overall I am satisfied with my purchase, and really hope they update the A119 Mini 2 to be compatible with changing the settings on the remote control.
