The 55 size is a mid size reel. Light tackle would be a 25-40 size reel or 2500 - 4000 size in the new generation reels.

With the abf 80b how many meters (yards) of 1mm thick line can i get on it?

Most all reel spools are marked for lb test AND line diameter they accept and ALL fishing line are marked not only with the lb test but also the diameter of the line. 1 mm line is equal to approx 100 lb test so if the spool isn't marked for diameter simply check what lb. test, such as how much 25 lb, then extrapolate. For example, the reel would take about 4 times less 1 mm line than it takes of 25 lb test.

is the 65b a good catfish reel

Yes it is I have a 65 in the ABF and in that series the drag is the same in the 65 as the 90 @ 22lb. For me at least i think the big concern comes in matching it size to the rod paying attention to the angle to first guide on the pole. I have been using my Okuma ABF 65 for going on 10 years and while i dont fish as often as i would like i have upgraded the pole i use with this reel three times. If this model is as good it can be used for trophy fish.

Would have preferred the new version price changes annoying (amazon)

It is what it is and is still really good. I lost a Diawa crossfire ands a old Okuma reel in the dark. This reel was a replacement and I was pleasantly surprised. Balances perfectly on my ugly and can be used on canal as a ledger reel.... to sum it up a good little allrounder
