Cheaper than drugstore
My ophthalmologist recommended these to help prevent AMD. Who knows if they will work, it takes 10 years to find out. At least they are less expensive than buying at the drugstores in my area. Easy to swallow, but I don't know why they are red in color. They get sticky and clump together in the bottle.

Problem with Quality Control (Post Manufacturing?)
After diagnosing me with early macular degeneration, my ophthalmologist recommended I start taking AREDS 2. Although the research supports effectiveness only for slowing or stopping progression from moderate to severe degeneration, I thought it would be okay to take the pills. I had no problems with the first few bottles, but the most recent one had tablets that stuck together and left red coloring stuck on the interior of the container. The pills feel tacky and are difficult to remove from the container. Since all of the containers were labled by Bausch & Lomb, I am surmising that the problem arose from the handling (storage or shipping) of the bottles. Perhaps failure to control temperature or humidity? I have discarded the contents and am once again purchasing my AREDS 2 from a local pharmacy where they cost more but I am more confident in their handling. I will attempt to contact Bosch & Lomb for more information.
