Fixed P2764 code and saved thousands over the dealership!
I bought this Dorman solenoid to fix code P2764 on my 2013 Subaru Outback TR580 CVT transmission. The dealership wanted to replace the entire valve body assembly for an outrageous amount, but this part let me fix only the faulty component. I tested the resistance of this Dorman solenoid and it was right there around 13 ohms. Before replacing the solenoid, I watched a few YouTube videos until I felt comfortable enough to start taking things apart. The most challenging part for me was actually taking the valve body cover off because it was stuck for good. Once the cover was off, I simply followed the videos to make sure everything was done correctly. If your valve body cover is stuck, you can try this (as shown in the photo) - get a M8 1.25 20mm flange bolt and 18" indexing wrecking bar. Put the flange bolt in the hole for the ground on the cover and fix it with the indexing pry bar. Adjust the angle of the pry bar to get leverage. Keep hammering around the cover edge and prying to loosen the cover.Installation was straightforward if you're comfortable with basic mechanical repairs. The solenoid fit perfectly like the OEM part. Be very gentle and careful when unscrewing the lock-up solenoid from the valve body because there is a 6 mm ground eyelet which is very easy to break. I broke mine and I had to cut the wires and attach a new one. After replacement and some driving, the code was cleared and the warning lights have not come up since driving for more than 100 miles. I am not sure how long this will last but will update if anything changes.Highly recommend this OE FIX option for anyone looking to save significant time and money!

Subaru P2763 Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) fault. Saved $1000 with this simple fix!
P2763 fault code. TCC failure. Dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree. Stick with the Dorman brand. Tons of support. Other lesser brands are often manufactured by one maker and sold to many resellers. Going slow, this repair took me about 2 hours (2014 Crosstrek TR580). Don't forget to get 2 new orings for where the valve body meets the transmission case, a new top cover gasket, Three Bond or ultra gray RTV, and a quart of compatible CVT fluid for the Lineartronics transmission (for top off. If fluid has not been changed recently, get five quarts and drain and refill). That's about $100 in parts. Better than a $800-1200 valve body since Subaru does not sell the solenoids separately. I reset the trans adaptives and it has been running great for a few weeks now. I consider this fixed.

Money Saver
This was a perfect fit for my 2013 Impreza. I received the trouble code for the torque converter solenoid and instead of replacing the $1200 valve body, I tried the solenoid first. This was a perfect replacement and it’s been about 1 month and trouble free!!

Fixed my issues
My 2014 Subaru Outback with the TR580 transmission had the dash lit up like a Christmas tree. I was getting TCC solenoid codes (P2763 and P0700) along with a few others.I installed this solenoid along with new O-rings and a cover seal. It fixed all the issues, some codes just needed a reset afterward to clear.A few tips from the job:- You’ll lose some fluid, so have about ½ quart of the correct Subaru transmission fluid ready to top it off.- Be careful with the bolt that holds the ground on the valve body (the one that secures the solenoid bracket). It’s easy to strip or break, so go gentle and be prepared to repair it if needed.- You can test the old solenoid first by checking resistance at the harness connector. Mine read 0 ohms, which confirmed it was bad. It should be 10 to 13.5 OhmsOverall, this part solved the problem completely. Highly recommend if you’re dealing with the same codes.

Hard shifts at operating temperatures
Purchased this product. Installed per instructions. Fairly straightforward forward to install, the part fit as describedAt cool temperatures it works fine but as the transmission warms up the solenoid become erratic and hard shifts at low speeds. Contacting the manufacturer for a solution. very disappointed that the part is not functioning under use.

Solved my transmission problem
This fixed my 2014 Subaru Forester's P2763 P0900 codes. Free next day shipping was excellent too. Decent instructions included, but how to videos were better for me. Seems to be a quality product, we will see if it lasts as long as the original.

Still working after four months for thousands less than the dealer.
I diagnosed my wife's subaru with a bad lock up solenoid. The dealer will only sell the entire control module ($2K), not the individual solenoid. The job removing the control module, replacing the solenoid, and putting everything back together isn't too bad for a reasonably competent shade tree mechanic with some tools and for thousands less. It fits like the original but obviously not as well built as the original it replaced (4 stars vs 5), but is still working four months later (others have stated they can fail after a few months, we'll see). In the interim I fixed the original solenoid in case this one fails prematurely. Would recommend for someone handy, probably not a job for a beginner.

Saved My Subaru and Thousands in Repair Costs
These solenoids were an absolute lifesaver for my 2015 Subaru Outback. I had the dreaded “Christmas tree” dashboard situation with nearly every warning light coming on along with several transmission-related diagnostic codes. Most shops would have wanted to replace the entire valve body, and the repair bill probably would have been more than the value of the car itself.Thankfully, these allowed me to replace just the failed lock-up solenoid instead of the whole assembly. After installation and completing the relearn/learning process, the transmission went back to shifting and running normally again. This repair literally saved me thousands of dollars and kept my 220,000-mile Outback on the road. If you’re dealing with similar Subaru CVT issues, this is definitely worth looking into before replacing the entire valve body.
