how long is this, is it a 3/4 length or a short?

If your normal chest size is 44 I would suggest size 46 if you intend to wear a sweater under the parka.

What size would a uk medium be

I don't know. I looked on the reviews and people were saying that the sizing was on the small side, so I ordered a larger size and it was gigantic. I had to send it back and re-ordered a smaller size. I think I must have Googled the sizing of them. It's not easy!!

Is a size UK 36 a woman's size 6?

I was thinking I would be asked about how good the coat is, its a fantastic outdoor coat and you won't be disappointed. As for the size I googled it and a chart read Euro 36= UK 8, =US 4, =Australian 8, but being a guy I am not as familiar with womens sizing. You may also just google it, and confer with another lady perhaps, hope this helps.
