Solus Chapelwood Mealworms 1kg

I rescued 4 hens a week ago through Fresh Start for Hens that would have gone to the abattoir that afternoon. I bought these to supplement their diet as they're very underweight & need a high energy, protein food...they have gone NUTS for them!!!It's like the best thing they've ever eaten!!! (Plus they're fab on the cupboard love front...funny how they're suddenly less wary of us humans if we have a handful of mealworms!)I've bought cheaper ones before for wild birds but the quality of Chapelwood mealworms is way better than any others I've found, no flaky bits & all whole mealworms, less gruesome to handle than dipping your hand in and getting bits stuck under your nails. Well recommend Chapelwood and will only buy this brand from now.

REVIEW UPDATE: 24/05/12Just ordered a new bag of mealworms for my birds again! The first bag I bought back in February has lasted me three months. However I don't put out mealworms daily for my birds - I tend to keep them as a treat every now and again. The price is still amazing for the quantity you are buying and wouldn't shop anywhere else for mealworms! Speedy delivery once again, 10/10 for Amazon :)++++++++++++++Edit: I would like to add that since writing this review I have seen the same quantity of mealworms in a well known garden centre for £33. So what youre seeing on Amazon is nothing short of a bargain, folks!++++++++++++++I was pondering on Amazon for about a week as to what mealworms I should buy for my lovely garden birds. There is such a variation of price and quantities to choose from, but I eventually settled on Chapelwoods 1kg bag of mealworms for the price of £12.50. It seems expensive but Chapelwood is renowned for its high quality food for garden birds so I knew what I was buying would be good stuff. When it came through the post, I was shocked as to how BIG the bag of mealworms were!! It's roughly the size of a 16" PC monitor. I honestly think I have gotten excellent value for money on this product and will last my garden birds for several weeks - if not more. It only lasts this long because I put out small quantity of mealworms out on the feeders at any one time - if I filled a ground feeder to the brim with the stuff, the local starling population would hoover it up in an instant!! Lol.Overall, I would give this product 10/10. Can't fault it one bit and highly recommend! Would buy again hands down.

A very popular, high-protein food. Unfortunately the blackbirds for whom I primarily intend it, often don't get a look in, as flocks of starlings come and snaffle it. But hey, the blackbirds and others will just have to learn to be quicker and bolder - starlings, like pigeons, are successful for a reason. Seriously, this is a good bird food, and a good value presentation. And it's not a favourite with the pigeons, at least.

The moment you open the back and the aroma from the mealworms escapes one can tell this is a quality product. Other mealworm products have a rather pungent smell, which is not pliant. In addition their is dust and the tend too look greyish when compared with the Chapelwood product. From now on I will only buy this product, as my Garden Birdies love this

These are very good value and the birds love them, the starlings and sparrows flock into the garden as soon as I put them out...I do have other birds like blackbirds and robins but the others outnumber them.

I love it. Actually the birds love them, they don't last long but thats the greedy birds fault :-)

It's nice to be able to buy 1kg of worms, lots of places only sell small packets. The birds love these and they disappear really quickly so it's nice to be able to buy in bulk. Plenty of different garden birds hoover these up, definitely worth getting if you like watching birds.

Fantastic value, even more so when purchased on a Lightening Deal! Great quality, good resealable packaging. Cant fault at all! The birds would demolish the lot in one day if I let them!
