I have a water softener installed. Is there any reason I should still use this filter? Does it do anything else other than prevent limescale?

You shouldn’t drink softened water, the salt content is too high. This filter will take out other impurities other than just limescale and make you coffee taste better.

How many tanks/fills of water before the need for a replacement

I'm on 30% on my filter and l have used it for about 5 months. I guess it all depends on the water hardness
