Pattern Cutting for Lingerie, Beachwear and Leisurewear, 2nd Edition

A comprehensive guide to cutting patterns. Not much info on materials used, but you need to think about this yourself, and the spirit of the book is one that is aimed at learning in a professional way. All the information you need to make patterns to your own requirements, if you want an easy garment with full details of each tiny step to sew, buy a ready made pattern instead. Excellent book showing how and why pattern pieces are specific shapes, and the information needed to manipulate these to your own design. Very easy to understand, if these are your aims. Each progressive pattern is illustrated, so pretty good for visual learners. Some comments that text is too small, I wear prescription reading glasses and didn't have a problem.

Fantastic book, must own one if starting up or learning

This book has a good selection of different pattern blocks to use for your own designs, with tips on how to adapt them. I use it all the time. Some more clear indication of seam allowances (which aren't included) and finishings such as bindings, ties etc. would have been a great help. It is a good reference book for the advanced user.

A simple to understand book that gives loads of detail on how to construct underwear with good tips and adaptions.

The book was as new although I ordered second hand! in fact it was new! It came suitably packaged in brown cardboard hence not a crease or dent visible I am so very happy with the seller Momox SE that they are top of the league and will be the first port of call in future for me. The content has everything you could think of from petticoats to basques from knickers to trousers and more... bikinis swimsuits etc. Well no other book required, job done.

Absolutely delighted, could have done with this 60-odd years ago. Only drawback is I go away on Thursday and I'm busy til then! Oh well! it'll just have to wait. Already picked out a pajama jacket that will make a super muslin shirt for this weather. Very simple classical patterns and ideas for tarting them up. Then add my own materials and ideas and I'm gonna be busy for a long while... I find these delightful lingerie patters will convert to top clothes that are loose and comfortable for the "older" woman. Thank you so much Ann Haggar!

Must have for students studying lingerie making. Brilliant instructions that are easy to follow with very detailed diagrams

I love this book, most of the blocks and adapted blocks are really great. However this book has one huge flaw the bust line on the bodice block is invariable too high often by more than an inch I've tried it on many people and it never fits right. On the other hand the skirt block is one of the best around.

I've been looking for years for a book like this. Commercial bras never seem to fit me, so I wanted to make my own. But even if I'm quite good at making "regular" clothing, I couldn't figure out how to draw a bra. This book offer several very interesting bras patterns, as well as swimwear, nightwear, corset, and much more. But don't expect to be able to use the book if you're totally new to sewing (unless you're really good at self-learning). You should at least be able to read a sewing pattern and have sewn at least a few simple garments before. But don't be discouraged by my warning, its much more easier than many people think to make your own garments. And they fit much more better!

this manual gives a full explanation of underwear beachwear loungewear but also the blocks (base) of all garments. I was really surprised to see how much good information this book as in not many pages. Totally reccommande it

Ottimo libro da cui partire per studiare la modellistica dell'intimo e dei costumi da bagno. A mio parere non è adatto a chi non ha già una base di modellistica in quanto non sempre è chiaro.. c'è da dire che l'ho preso in inglese nonostante non sia la mia lingua madre quindi probabilmente la mia difficoltà sta in alcune incomprensioni nella traduzione. È corredato da molte immagini quindi facile da capire anche a chi non ha mai disegnato un cartamodello di questo tipo. Ottimo prodotto da cui partire!

Mich hat dieses Buch positiv überrascht. Hatte schon früher mit ähnliche Lektüren gearbeitet aber dieses Werk überzeugt und animierte mich, gleich los zulegen. Ich habe das Schnitte zeichnen gelernt und zum Thema Unterwäsche wollte ich mein Wissen vertiefen. Dieses Buch bietet einen guten Überblick und Einstieg für Anfänger (mit guten Englisch-Kenntnissen) aber eben auch für Gelernte die sich der Materie der Unterwäsche nähern wollen (gute Englisch-Kenntnisse sind dann nicht mehr zwingend notwendig, da sich die Skizzen teilweise selbst erklären) Zu Anfang wird der Grundschnitt von Rock, Oberteil, mit Ärmeln und Hose gezeigt. Dann die Kombinationen daraus. Und BH-Schnitte werden wiederum aus dem Oberteil erstellt. Auf die unterschiedlichen BH-Größen und der Linienführung wird auch eingegangen. Bademode, Overalls und Morgenmäntel werden auch behandelt. Genauso wird auf unelastische und elstische Stoffe und deren Handhabung eingegangen. Die erste Auflage war von 1990 und ist den Modevorschlägen anzusehen. Aber dennoch inspiriert es und regt die eigene Fantasie an. Personen die sich bisher schon mit den Schnitten für Unterwäsche befasst haben und erfolgreich diese umsetzen konnten, werden sich bei diesem Buch eher langweilen oder sie können sich hiermit ein handliches Nachschlagewerk zulegen, zum immer wieder auffrischen des eigenen Wissens.

Aun siendo un libro muy conocido, es difícil de entender, no me gustó nada
