Echo Show 5 (Newest gen), Smart display and alarm clock with clearer sound, Cloud blue, with Alexa+ Early Access

I use this on a bedside table, and it is a really handy size. The screen is clear for the time, weather, reminders and smart home controls, while the sound is better than I expected from something so compact. Setup was simple, and Alexa has been reliable for the things I use most. It fits neatly without taking over the space, which is exactly what I wanted.

An excellent upgrade on the previous generations, it’s extremely easy to use the smart setup out of the box loaded in just moments and with Alexa plus it’s extremely useful. The display is very vivid and clear and it is good for watching videos in the kitchen. The sound quality and volume is good. It’s much more compact than previous generations and it’s a lot faster and more responsive to use.

The Echo Show 5 features an excellent, clear display and commendable sound quality. Its user-friendly interface is a significant advantage; however, Its command processing speed is slower compared to my previous Echo device.

Be warned, by buying this you are paying for Amazon to show you ads in your bedroom and you can't turn them off! The interface is horrendous and very unintuitive, it almost feels deliberate like having no save button in alarms, you press the back which goes against nearly any other UI. No menu or home buttons on screen so navigating is poor. It is useless if not online, you can't even set an alarm, which seems pretty reasonable to be able to do using the screen when the Internet goes out from time to time. Its glitchy and feels unfinished, sometimes showing the time on top of the time but in a different size and the sometimes the default wall papers don't fit on the screen and are just small in the corner which looks very poor with most of the screen black. The app for your phone is very poor and half the time only half the UI loads and needs to be restarted. It also feels like its deliberately unintuitive, trying to setup any other music service apart from Amazon Music is like pulling teeth. It's clear they don't want you to, which I understand if the device was cheap but for an alarm clock it's not. Its amazing how many things they got wrong with alarm clock but it's clearly mostly meant to be a billboard for Amazon put in your bedroom.

Got on sale for £50. Great little gadget for my desk that I use to display the time, set alarms and stream spotify. Good sound quality. I also use it as a speaker for my projector

Upgraded from an echo dot to the echo show and have used the device for around a year now. Overall I’m relatively disappointed at the performance, the device is significantly slower to react than the previous gen echo dot, occasionally displays the incorrect time. The sound quality seems more or less the same. Now the display, in terms of visual quality it’s fine nothing outstanding the touch responsiveness is equally as good. My main issue over the 2 years using the device is the screen sometimes doesn’t turn off/ go into the dimmer night mode which can be very annoying when trying to sleep. The microphone is significantly worse than the previous device causing quite a bit of frustration when trying to turn on lights or play music etc. The somewhat saving grace is the camera I can use the device to stay in touch with the family without needing to contact them via call. The video aspect makes it a lot more personal than with just audio alone. If I was to make the purchase again would I buy an echo show over the echo dot, Although the screen and camera are a nice addition the decrease in performance and the extra amount for it outweigh their benefit. It is now time for an upgrade to something that has hopefully ironed out some of the issues with this model

It's always been a dream of mine to have one. I'm loving my companion. I want to send one to my mother in Brazil; I wish it were as cheap as it is here.

Useless product, had to return two units. Still waiting for my refund for my second one I returned. Was also waiting for technical support to call me to help in getting the product working….. still waiting for the call, three weeks later. Woeful customer service from Amazon.
