Fully integrated and used in my playing routine - worth the extra money
It finds courses quickly (providing you've updated the software), and shows all the information that you'd need. The big advantage for me of the S5/6 over others is the graphic of the hole, which enables me to quickly touch a hazard and see the distance there rather than just to the green. That's very useful on courses that you don't know and need to find out how far to clear the dyke etc. That feature has also been very useful for winter greens, tapping on where they are rather than having to guess in relation to the figures for the summer greens. The swing tempo feature hasn't captured my swing every time, but does most times. It's proved helpful on the range. The email/text notification feature of the S5/6 is good in theory, but it is bloody irritating in practice to keep having notifications come up when you're trying to focus on the round. It would be better if you could just specify texts and not emails, but I haven't managed to work out if that's possible (I don't think it is). I disagree with those who have complained about the screen not being bright enough. It's certainly not as bright as in the publicity pictures, but is still clear enough to read in any light. The biggest criticism I'd have is that it's not always obvious when it's charging (although in some screens there's a little pixel change on the battery indicator). It also appeared that it wasn't charging when it was switched off, but I've not retested this. Overall, it's provided all that I wanted from a GPS watch, I find that I have used most features so it's been worth the extra over other watches, and it's easy enough to wear/use that it's fitted very easily into my playing routine.

Worth it
Fantastic watch - yes a little fiddly to operate initially but I found using a finger nail or tee means I never had an issue toggling through the menus or placing the pin. Had no issues with the screen visibility as I read prior to buying. Course view - watch found the course I was playing at and had most obstacles / reference points on - will have a better feel having played on more courses. Distance / yardages - including pin positioning, worked a treat. Was consistent with my expectations of club yardage. Swing training / timing - useful little function. The timing was very useful, a little beep to help you with rhythm but definitely noticeable at the range - the correlation between hitting a good shot and a shank came across on the timing. Not sure on the power reading yet – seemed to be consistent when I hit something clean but as consistent when I hit something badly. Strike distance – as it says, works out from the tee to where ball lands. Worked walking directly to ball. Yet to try in golf cart when you aren’t going as the crow flies. Scoring – very useful. I moved back and forth between holes and was able to amend score when I’d made a mistake. Haven’t worked out if you can put handicap in yet. Stats / app / online – good to have the function to review. Have a couple of garmin products and find the online and app interaction very straightforward to use. Battery - still over 25% left after 1 round, 120 balls at the driving range and some wearing as a watch. Yes, expensive but worth it in my opinion.

Excellent device
Previously had a S1, this is over twice the price, but does give hole layout and distances to hazards, so no need for a course guide. Used it in UK and Portugal without issue, finds satellites ok, loads course quickly. Can be annoying when it won't switch to the menu you want, but patience is the key. Overall happy with the packaged, the strap on my S1 was the weakest feature and the S6 is far more robust.

Great product, however can't read the language
Great product, however can't read the language!!!!! Therefore unable to use the manual to use Bluetooth or anything else for that matter, and there's NOTHING in the manual that allows you to change it, awaiting a response from Garmin.

VERY disappointed. I had an S2 and went for the S6 because of the extra features. However, I'm afraid the old S2 was actually better. Firstly, this S6, when out on the course, ends each hole by asking you to input your score. I don't want to use that feature. I want it to seamlessly move to the next hole. That is what the S2 does. Now I have to keep pressing the 'Back' button to see the yardages for the next hole. I contacted Garmin to see if there was any setting I could change but there isn't. Secondly, the display is much duller than the S2. Unless there is bright sunlight i find it quite difficult to read. The course view looks great in the sales info, however it is nowhere near as bright and as hi-res in real life. Additionally, actually using your finger to move on to a course position with a 1 inch screen is near impossible. I have been trying and practicing for several weeks now and still cannot master it. The sales guff also promises longer battery life. More nonsense. It is exactly the same as the S2. I can't really send it back because it isn't faulty, but if disappointment could be physically measured, this would be of Everest proportions. It cost £279 pounds. Not worth it. Even a little bit. I have been pleased with all my previous Garmin purchases for my car as well as golf, but this is a rip off if truth be told. Very angry.

Perfect for my game
Perfect for my game, and easy to use once you've got the hang of it. Not had chance to use the tempo training yet, but all the other features are great.

Very disappointed that the watch was faulty but could not fault ...
Product arrived on time but unfortunately was faulty as the battery would not hold a charge. However refund was seamless. Arrangement was made to collect the watch from my home & refunded money was in my bank soon after. Very disappointed that the watch was faulty but could not fault the way it was dealt with afterwards.
