From Hiroya Oku, bestselling creator of the cult favorite manga series, Gantz . Ichiro Inuyashiki is an upstanding citizen and family man who has worked tirelessly for many years to purchase a home for his family, but because he looks closer to 80 instead of his actual age of 58, everyone treats him like a useless old man. It seems that the only person who will miss him is his newly acquired canine companion, Hanako. One day, while walking Hanako, a blinding light burns through the night sky and Inuyashiki is hit by an extraterrestrial object. Inuyashiki finds himself oddly unscathed, but as time goes by, he discovers his body has been rebuilt by an as of yet unknown alien entity and his new cybernetic body has been endowed with amazing new powers. Inuyashiki takes it upon himself to become a defender of those who have been subjugated and bullied in our modern society! Review: Great - A great first volume, look forward to seeing were it goes. Review: The book starts off very sad and goes into quite a deep character study of ... - A promising new sci-fi manga series with an appeal to the adult reader. A compelling new take, for me at least, with an old man as the main character. Though they make him out to be older than he is in actual years, kind of a life has been hard on him thing. The book starts off very sad and goes into quite a deep character study of this man, his life, family and view of the world around him. Then he and a stranger and hit by a blinding light and his world is forever changed. The sci-fi angle is really cool and for a first volume a lot happens including just enough information to get the reader hooked. The book ends with the introduction of the second character and I'm really excited to see if he's going to be the protagonist to Inuyashiki. Really detailed clear art as well.

A great start for an unlikely hero.
Arrived in good condition and was a very entertaining read! The artstyle and the story are fascinating, with Mr. Inuyashiki being an unusual but compelling protagonist. The books have more scenes and details sprinkled here and there compared to the TV series. Loved it and definitely would recommend for fans of the genre.

Loved it
Inuyashiki by Hiroya Oku really caught me off guard—in the best way. I went in completely blind, and I’m glad I did. The story follows an older man who looks every bit his age, and his life reflects it. His family treats him like a burden, almost embarrassed by his presence, and you can feel how unwanted he is. Even when he tries to do something meaningful—like buying a home for them—it’s met with indifference and disrespect. Things only get worse when he learns he has cancer and tries to open up about it, but no one is willing to give him the time of day. It’s hard not to feel for him. Then, during a quiet walk in the park with his only real companion—his dog—everything changes. His body, his life, his entire purpose shifts. What follows is a powerful turn as he tries to use this second chance to do good and make a difference for others. This was an easy 5/5 for me. I’m definitely picking up the next volume.

One of the best stories I’ve read
Inuyashiki is an incredible manga that really stands out, especially because of its amazing artwork and powerful storytelling. The art is extremely detailed and realistic, which makes every scene feel intense and emotional. The action sequences are drawn beautifully, and even the quiet moments have a strong impact because of how expressive everything looks. The story itself is very unique and gripping. It explores deep themes like humanity, morality, and what it truly means to be a hero or a villain. The contrast between the characters is done so well that it keeps you hooked the entire time. It’s not just action—it really makes you think. Overall, Inuyashiki is a must-read if you enjoy psychological and emotional stories with great visuals. My only complaint is that I really wish there was more—especially a Volume 2 readily available, because it’s so good that you just want to keep reading without stopping.
