Do the brown ones let enough light through?

I don't know. I have the off white ones and they let s ome light through them but not much. Most of the light shines out the bottom and top of the shade. This is how most shades work,

I think so. 14” diameter. I have mine on a tall thin bedroom lamp. Covers light bulb appropriately. It looks nice. Arrives flat in small package & pops into shape.
