No, the smooth side bonds even stronger than the textured side. These plates don't damage as easily as Bambu's own smooth plates, which are just stickers that delaminate very easily. These plates are the way to go for smooth surface prints. Would really be better if both sides were smooth, since everyone already has a texture plate from Bambu and the texture surface almost never gets damaged. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Garbage -edit (not garbage, please see my edit below) *by L***. on Reviewed in the United States on December 18, 2023* This is by far the worst PEI bed I ever used. Just taking it out of the packaging I saw it had small scratches, like it was washed with an abrasive pad. Then I also noticed the PEI sheet that came already on, had bubbles here and there, and in two places it had particles underneath.I cleaned it, put it on my P1S, and printed a pre-loaded bambu print, using Bambi basic pla. It printed with the bed heated to 55 degrees, and it left a permanent imprint on the sheet with bubbles. I let it cool down naturally before I removed anything.I do not believe this sheet will last with even a week's worth of printing.Terrible quality, don't waste your money on this sheet.-EDIT (please read)So I discovered the plate had a second soft protective film on top of the PEI. When I got the plate it was inside a plastic and I peeled off the protective film. When I tried the plate now again the nozzle dug into and ripped what I thought was the PEI film. I thought to myself this is very thin for PEI, and when I peeled it off, it showed the smooth distinct PEI film underneath, on top of the spring steel plate. I can only think that during manufacturing they accidentally put two protective films on this sheet. Now it behaves as a real nice actual smooth PEI bed plate. Very niceI am very happy with this plate now. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Came chipped but works *by M***S on Reviewed in the United States on June 9, 2024* Im not sure if this was a defect from the factory or if it was used before I got it. The plate works beautifully and my prints pop off so easily. I love it. I use the smooth side because I need the finish for this specific print. Again not sure how the defect happened but it is towards the back and I was in a time crunch for my project and could not wait on a return. Works great though. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars great build plate for the Bambu X1 *by R***Y on Reviewed in the United States on December 12, 2023* I have seen some of the negative reviews, but this has become my go to build plate for the Bambu X1C. The textured side leaves a nice texture on the bottom of your prints and the smooth leaves a nice smooth finish.I feel silly but for the first month I did not realize the smooth side had a thin plastic film to protect it. With that film still on the smooth side worked ok but the film started coming off. The textured side was working great, so I just kept the plate for my textured PEI plate.With more time the film continued to come off more and more. Then it hit me perhaps it was some kind of protective film, and I posted a question on Amazon and found out the film was indeed supposed to come off. Now both sides of the plate are working great.
