Amazing!
I had never used an overlocker, but I love my sewing machine and have wanted an overlocker for years. With extra sewing time over lock down I decided to treat myself. I spoke to several machine repair shops and everyone recommended Janome, and I have never had an issue with My Janome sewing machine. I picked this model due to the easy re-threading feature. The machine arrived ready threaded with four reels of white thread. They aren’t full reels but will get you started. The manual is good, and I also watched a few YouTube videos, but this is a very easy to use overlocker. It isn’t quiet but I think that’s just an overlocker thing. But it is very easy to re-thread. If I’m changing all the reels I use the tie off method and just change all the tension dials to zero and feed the new threads through tied onto the old ones, but a few times I’ve managed to do something to make thread break etc and I’ve had to re-thread. The first time I realised I had to re-thread the lower looper I was expecting it to take me hours but it took just a few minutes! After a few weeks of using it I don’t really give it a second thought, it’s so easy! I have had no issues, and I’ve used the machine as both a four and three thread overlocker and the results of both have been brilliant. I’d absolutely recommend this machine!

Fabulous machine!
Love this machine, easy to use. Came already threaded. Ive ticked 3 stars for weight as its fairly sturdy, you dont want it too light. clear instructions on threading. works a treat !

Highly recommend this easy to use overlocker
I bought this overlocker as a replacement for my broken Janome 9200D which I had to keep rethreading after 20 seconds of use. The 6234xl overlocker is really easy to use and much better for beginners. It's a lot quieter and the construction just feels better which is reflected in machine's weight. I noticed that when I move it around there's no hard landing, it feels cushioned which is a pleasant surprise after using the 9200D overlocker for so long. Unfortunately although the machine was meant to be threaded up one of the spools came off during delivery and I had to rethread the whole machine. This was fine for me given all the practise I had with rethreading but not ideal for beginners new to overlocking. Having said that, the threading is much more user friendly, with no fiddly parts to thread through. Overall really recommend this machine.

Love this overlocker
This is the third overlocker I owned over the years, I got this specifically because it’s not only made of plastic like most are nowadays. It’s easy to thread, cuts well and is versatile due to 4 threads. I’ve used it on several layers and it works fine. My only negative is the way the thread holders are at the back of the machine and that they can’t be raised higher. I prefer when they are in a row next to each other but I wasn’t able to get one that ticks all my boxes. I’m very pleased with this machine.

Janome make very good sewing machines and overlockers
It's a Janome so it's well built and good to use. Sews well with quality stitches. Threading fine once you get used to it. Prefer the threads to be all on one line at back but not a deal breaker. I was advised by an engineer who repairs sewing machines and overlockers that Janome are the machines he recommends. He fixes these machines so he should know.

Easy to use
This is a great little machine that tidies seams and makes the inside of things almost as good as the outside. Reasonable price point

Lower looper is a bit tricky to thread
I found it quite tricky to thread the lower looper. OK, I realise I could have knotted the new thread to the old one, and I know I'll get used to it, but the fiddliness surprised me for such a prestigious brand. This is the 3rd overlocker I've owned (first Janome) so I wasn't expecting any issues. On the other hand, it operates smoothly, and the tension was easy to adjust. The waste tray fits neatly and the accessories box fits neatly into it when not in use. The manual was very clear once I took care to read it thoroughly. I am also a little disappointed that few accessories were included. It was not a cheap model, and both my previous overlockers (Brother and Frister & Rossmann) had lots of things like gathering feet or taping feet I rarely used.
