Revised and updated, with a new chapter on trauma and anxiety, resources section and more. Over 7 million copies sold. A cultural phenomenon that has helped heal millions of readers, this modern classic holds the key to understanding codependency and unlocking its hold on your life. Melody Beattie's compassionate and insightful look into codependency - the concept of losing oneself in the name of helping another - has helped to guide millions of readers towards the understanding that they are powerless to change anyone but themselves and that caring for the self is where healing begins. Is someone else's problem your problem? If, like so many others, you've lost sight of your own life in the drama of tending to a loved one's self-destructive behaviour, you may be codependent - and you may find yourself in this book. With personal reflections, exercises, and instructive stories drawn from Beattie's own life and the lives of those she's counseled, Codependent No More helps you break old patterns and maintain healthy boundaries, offering a clear and achievable path to healing, hope, freedom and happiness. This revised edition includes an all-new chapter on trauma and anxiety - subjects Beattie has long felt need to be addressed within the context of codependency - making it even more relevant today than it was when it first entered the international conversation over thirty-five years ago. Review: On time - I recently discovered that I was codependent and my life was dark because of it so I needed a tour on how to recover from it and this is the such a great book filled with so much resourceful and written in kindest bittersweet way possible. great stuff
This book has helped me take a look at the man I didnโt like. As I looked, I fell in love and since that day, my life has gotten better and better. The material in the boom helped me help myself. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to have better relationships.

Great book! Also healing and insightful for people with insecure attachment styles.
Although I was never affected by addiction or compulsive disorder (and I originally misunderstood to whom this book was adressed oops), I greatly benefited from reading it! The contents were surprisingly, if not shockingly, insightful and really applicative for me, a person with anxiously preoccupied attachment. This was the first book I read to start my healing journey and I found it to be a smooth and nurtruring introduction. Especially helpful were the contents on detachment, the illusion of control and setting personal boundries. The author's warm, yet direct way of expression practically called me to reflect on my life's choices. When I started journaling to some of the prompts listed at the end of each chapter, it became very apparent to me which changes had to be made in my life. Moreover, the examples, experiences and stories shared by the author really highlighted the messages conveyed throughout the book and helped me to relate to them personally. Ultimately, I really did learn a lot. The book is well-written and very interesting to read. Though, if used for self-help, I recommend reading 1-2 chapters at a time and then taking some time to refelct. Not only can the contents be quite confrontational but also, the learning process will likely benefit if breaks are used for process, journal if not even to take action. Hope this helps.
