Very easy to use, just right for serving firm butter in little curls.

Good presentation of butter at any table meal. (Practise counts and no waste! Recover butter later and back into fridge. Remould butter into a "pat" block.) Just draw the tool with one hand, very straight, in a long roll onto the flat surface, in a fixed hold contained, butter "pat". Keep other hand with a knife, along side at the same time, and trim roll short length with the knife as required. Drop rolls into another service dish. Tool has other edges for uses to trim vegetables. Serve on a small quality China plate. Unfortunately, individual glass dome/ butter dishes, often advertised together, are ill-fitting and very fragile.

I used this to make butter curls for my afternoon tea wedding. This seemed the best one I would find which wasn't a ridiculous price. After getting the hang of how to do it, which took a while. I soon was able to make enough. I had between 50-70ish (ha can't remember now) people coming. Watch a lot of videos and practice, you won't be able to get them to look all the same, but I was happy with how mine turned out.

Heavier than I expected

Takes some getting used to and a bit of a learning curve. Looks easy to use but requires lots of practice however once you get the hang of it the results are good.

Simple

Takes a bit of time to get used to it, but it does produce good butter curls. I don’t use this daily, but for a dinner party or special occasion, it has its purpose. Tip: I personally think the butter you use affects how well this curler works.

For me the butter curler is not wide enough.

ニュージーランドの旅行中、B＆Bで出た巻貝のようなバター、アンティーク市で買った道具とのことで、旅行中、そして帰国してから、名前も分からず、探しぬいたのですが、見つからず、ようやくここにたどり着きました。さて、使い時ですが、バターを削るとき、取っ手として使いたい部分がカッターを兼ねているので、素手で持つには痛くて力が入らず、布かペーパーで包まないと使い辛いです。バターの方さにより、ボロボロになったり、なかなか理想通りにはいきません。頑張って、使いこなしたいです。

In the past, bought a butter curler (knife) which was good only when the pound of butter was flat. With this tool, it works every time no matter what. Simply perfect. My hubby had a stroke and it is hard for him to pick some butter with a regular knife. With this, no problem at all. More than highly recommended.

This little gizmo is great for butter curls and other artistic ways of presenting butter that is rock hard straight from the 'fridge. If you live in a very warm climate like me, butter is always kept in the 'fridge and is well nigh unusable for a while unless you have one of these garnishing tools. Haven't used it on anything else but I would guess it works well on hard cheese too.
