I think stability is something you need to seek in the shoe, first, but supination is tricky because they always recommend regular "neutral" rated shoes and ones that are rated for support or motion control actually cause increased supination. There are some wedge-type partial insoles that cover the heel of the insole of a shoe that I would recommend trying. (Try searching for "supination wedge insole" or something.) You can adjust them so they are pushing your feet inward to favor pronation if that's what you're looking for. I don't think a whole-shoe insole is going to help. Good luck! And if you do find an insole that works for supination, let me know. :) **Q: Can you return these after being trimmed?** A: I dont know about return policy. It can be caused by continuous running, jumping, or being on your feet. As to how it treats it, simply put, w/o proper support for your feet, you can develop metatarsalagia. Not saying these will stop you from getting it, but it will help with the symptoms if you already have it as per recommended by the Mayo Clinic. That, coupled with the fact I spend most of my time on very hard surfaces and I’m a senior, has made it necessary to seek relief. I bought stability sneakers and while they did help a bit, not enough. I discovered these insoles while trying insoles for the first time. They’ve helped me and I’ve purchased them several times. I’ve heard people say things like they are hard, squeak, and didn’t work for them. I’m sorry to hear that as my experience is positive. When I first put them in, they do feel a bit hard but after a day or two, they don’t feel hard anymore… they feel supportive. Some of them have squeaked at first, but after reinserting them (in case I didn’t put them in correctly), I will happily squeak all over the place if I’m not in pain! Hahaha. But for the few that did squeak, it didn’t seem to last long. I’m not really a large person (5ft4 and I could lose 20 pounds) so I don’t know how these will work for a bigger person? But I just wanted to share my experience in case someone with overpronation was considering the insoles. Have a bit of patience in to adjust to them and I hope they help you too. By the way, I do replace the shoe insole with this one (I’ve read folks ask) and I’m constantly stunned at how flimsy and/or thin the original shoe insole usually is (even in supportive shoes)! No wonder we’ve been in pain! UPDATE… I’ve changed my rating to a 4. The reason is that although I like these insoles, I’m already having to replace them!
