This is battery and mains operated. The mains operation is via a Sony 6V AC power adaptor. The one I bought online came with a European 2-pin power adaptor so I had to go out and buy the British equivalent power adaptor which cost me something around £14.99. I could have bought a converter plug to connect to the power adaptor but this would have made the power adaptor + convertoer annoyingly builky. It's a lightweight, easily portable unit but the volume doesn't go really high. Good luck

Does this come with the tapes? If not which tapes should I buy?
