DK Top 10 Istanbul (Pocket Travel Guide) : DK Travel: desertcart.co.uk: Books Review: You been a minimum of two days for your visit. - Just right for a trip round Istanbul. Has all the information of the most important sites to visit plus photos and a map. Remember to cover past your elbows and knees in the mosques and women must cover their hair. The buildings are stunning. Try and include a visit to the underground Cistern Basilica, well worth it. Visiting Istanbul is truly a magical experience and this small book will help you with your journey and it will be a useful keepsake of your your time there. The people there are very friendly. Review: Pretty good, restaurant recommendations a little less - With outdated Lonely Planet and discontinued Marco Polo ones, this is the best pocket guide for Istanbul as of early 2024. Detailed contents and maps are their selling points.

brilliant book. definitely recommend
I bought this book for our trip. Absolutely brilliant! First you can go anywhere with this book, in your handbag or just holding in your hand. So size wise is perfect. Secondly all information are quite well summed up. Everything you need to know is in this book !! A massive plus of this book is you got severals maps if you don’t use gps on your phone. I will definitely buy different ones for different towns.

Excellent guide
It is nice and portable and has all the features you would want from a travel guide. I love the photos, useful information, language, maps, and lists the must see places. Well worth the money.

Excellent Pocket Guide Book.
Not the first time I have bought the DK series of tourist guide books. Wherever you might be travelling these pocket guide books are a great companion. I particularly like the sightseeing recommendations based on how long your stay is. Highly recommended!

Clear. Presume. Bright.
I chose this as this series is always extremely well illustrated and full of as much information as one needs for an initial trip. It didn’t disappoint.

Way out on quoted prices for entry to palace and mosque
We were quite shocked at the prices we had to pay to gain entry to the Haghia Sophia, Topkapi Palace (and Museum), although the Blue Mosque was free. For a couple you need ~€200 euros spare to visit these kind of places and associated museums but locals can get entry for what appears to be a 1/5th of the price. Didn’t come to Istanbul on the strength of this book review but considering it is a 2023 edition it was way off with entry cost estimate guidance and similarly restaurant price guidance.
