Great value, would buy again!
For the price, this is a fantastic drill. I literally could not rent a drill from a tool rental place for the price of buying one of these. The magnet is strong enough that it had no trouble holding the drill against a vertical quarter inch steel ibeam. Some reviewers have commented that it could use a safety interlock to prevent the drill from being powered on before the magnet is energized, but the drill I received in fact has this interlock. It could be that there are older ones that did not. The speed control and soft start on the motor work perfectly. When you start to load up the drill, the motor will slow down a little bit, but then feed more power and pick back up. I highly recommend picking up some kind of cutting oil or tapping fluid for use with the annular cutters. Worked great, 5/5 stars, would buy again.

Fantastic Mag Drill!
Bought this when I started a house renovation project in a metal building to drill through the beams. Have used both the standard drill bits as well as the Walden Shank bits. Both work great! Never used the Walden Shanja before this but boy do their hole saw bits but well! I installed a mini split system and had to run the line sets through the beams and used this drill with a 2" hole bit to run them and it couldn't have worked better! Was able to drill each hole in like 30 seconds! Incredible! Also the drill is extremely durable and solid. Accidentally fell off my work bench once onto a concrete floor and was perfectly fine. Great drill! If you need a good mag drill that isn't over a grand this one will suit your needs!

Excellent for light duty use.
For me, this mag drill from Vevor has been great. Upon receiving it, I needed to adjust the gibs for the vertical travel. It's an easy process of gradually snugging up the adjusting screws until you get the desired amount of resistance. Then, tighten the nuts to lock the screws in place. When I received it, the screws had the travel locked in place. I assume that was for shipping purposes. I am now about halfway through the job for which I bought this tool. So far, so good. I am running a 5/8" annular cutter to modify a laser table. I machined a simple fixture to locate the cutter, and the magnet is then energized while the tool is centered. There is virtually no movement when powering the magnet. The base is square to the travel of the travel. There hasn't been any noticeable runout in the spindle. I am more than happy with the accuracy and function of this machine. For what I paid (well under $200 USD), this tool has gone well beyond my expectations. I don't know how well it would hold up to heavy duty use, but it is working beautifully for my project. Thus far, I've found that the tool has no trouble pushing the 5/8" cutter through the 1/4" steel plate. It says it will handle a 2" cutter, but I don't plan to ever put it to that test. If I put some pressure into the 5/8" cutter, the motor will start to labor. However, for this type of cutting, you've just gotta keep things lubed and let the cutter do the work. I don't know how often I'll need this tool in the future, but I feel it will have paid for itself if it makes it through this job. It is a fantastic value.

Mag Drill
With the chuck attached, it takes short drill bits. It could use ann interlock to prevent the drill from starting without the magnet energized. Otherwise good machine for the money.

This thing works awesome
I had a particular job I purchased this for. I needed twelve 1/2" holes drilled in a plate of steel that's 2 1/2" thick and stands up at a 90 degree angle. I knew a mag drill was the only practical way to do it so I figured I'd try this one since it was affordable. It worked perfectly. No problem at all with the magnet holding the drill up there while I spent a couple of hours doing the drilling. The adjustable speed worked great with the different sized bits I was using. If I had to complain about something it would be the magnet switch and drill switch being located so close. Several times I wasn't thinking or paying attention and turned the magnet off on accident. Nothing like watching the drill take off falling when you're not expecting it. It may not help me but it would be nice if the switches were at different locations. Overall I'd say if you're on the fence buy it.

Good cutter
Thus far the device has performed flawlessly. The crank is a little stiff even after loosening the adjusting pins but otherwise no issue. Value-price is a no brainer.

Not usable with the chuck!
When assembling I could not attach the drill chuck. I bought it for drilling with twist drills. First of all there is not enough room under the spindle for the chuck and drill bit even when the spindle is fully raised. To fix that I inverted the quill so the motor is near the top where it should be. That required disassembly and machining two new index pin locations for the motor. I then mounted the Weldon threaded adapter for the chuck. I found the chuck threads on the adapter (1/2"-20) don't match the chuck (M18-1.5). To correct I will buy an M18-1.2 bolt, cut to length, drill & bore it to .002" smaller than the threads on the adapter. I will heat it and drop in onto the adapter for an interference fit. I tried to get it exchanged but that is not offered and probably another one has the same problem anyway. I see posts of the same problem with the chuck not fitting. So I am fixing it myself. You may have to take the parts to a machine shop for fitting.

Works well for putting holes in steel plate
I wish that I had bought one of these a long time ago. Annular cutters work so much better for putting holes in steel plate than ordinary drill bits. The magnetic base is very strong and holds the machine solidly in place. The variable speed is awesome and in my opinion this a "must have" feature to extend the life of the cutters. Don't forget to use proper lubrication on the cutter as well. I didn't install the included oil dispenser system and instead just put a dab of Hougen 11748 RotaGel Cutting Lube on the cutter before drilling each hole. Time will tell how well this holds up to heavy use, but at this point I'm very pleased and would definitely buy it again.

Machine works effortlessly drilling 14mm holen through 1cm thick steel like butter. Drilled almost 200 holes over the weekend and can't find any flaws. Only remark is that with the drill head installed the head becomes heavy and drops making it slightly more difficult to position the drill. Very happy with the purchase. I can recommend this to anyone having second thoughts.
