Though it took awhile to get into, once I did i couldn't stop. Then I had to keep going with the second one. If you like history you'll like this book! Review: Great start! - Fritz is a witch and after her coven is burned down and her cousin captured she is determined to save Liesel and get to the forest people for help. Otto is a witch hunter and when he captures Fritzi after she send his sister away “some place safe” he knows he needs her more than ever. When it becomes clear that they desperately need each other in the endeavors they each have, and that not everything is as it appears to be, can Fritzi and Otto work together before the head witch hunter catches whiff of what they’re doing? Such a fun start to a series! Definitely want to read book two and I loved the dynamic between the characters as everything developed and the twists were twisty real good!

A Midnight Adventure That Flickers Instead of Flames
I went into Night of a Witch ready for a magical escape and it mostly delivered. The opening is moody and exciting with witches on the run, dangerous hunters, and a heroine who feels like she could outsmart anyone. The candlelit atmosphere and witchy world building pulled me in right away and kept me curious. Somewhere around the middle I started to lose a little of that spark. The pacing jumped between super fast and a bit too slow and a few of the big reveals landed softly instead of giving me the gasp I wanted. The slow burn romance has some fun banter and tension but I never fully felt the chemistry the way I hoped to. Still the dark magic and late night vibe are hard to resist. The final chapters picked up again and left me interested enough to see what happens next in the series. Overall this was an enjoyable read with great atmosphere and moments of excitement but it did not completely sweep me away. A solid ⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars from me.

Night of the Witch
A slow read at times, but well worth it. I love the twist at the end. I particularly enjoyed how they tied some into historical events and put their own flair.

Good read!
This book was an enjoyable read overall, but it didn’t quite deliver the level of excitement I was hoping for. The story had a compelling historical backdrop that added depth and grounded the fantasy elements in a very intriguing way. That part definitely stood out. It was a descent read but it didn’t completely sweep me away.

A Witch and A Witch Hunter... What could go wrong?
After surviving a hexenjäger attack on her coven led by Kommandant Dieter Kirch, Fritzi is left to fight to find her cousin and justice for the family they lost. Along the way, she encounters Otto, a captain and second in command to Kirch, who has secrets of his own. When Fritzi is thrown into his life, his own plans for vengeance are disrupted. This leaves the pair with only one option if their craving for revenge is to be quenched; they have to trust each other. When more secrets come to light, the witch and witch hunter find far more than the vengeance they desperately seek. What a way to kick off a series! Fritzi is a force of nature and the transformation she endures throughout the book is incredible to experience as the reader. Her reluctance to trust and the journey of her relationship with Otto felt natural and not rushed. Otto's love for his sister was precious, and the plan they concocted was ingenious! Dieter was such a complex yet simple villain at the same time. There are so many layers to this man, but he is incredibly written. More than a few times I had unpleasant chills when I heard his voice while I read. Liesel was definitely my favorite though she is young, she is powerful and formidable. I cannot wait to see how she grows in the series. The dual POV between Fritzi and Otto allows the reader to delve into both of their minds. I loved that there were historical connections to the real witch trials in Europe. The writing was exquisite and made it feel as though it was unfolding before me, and it was easy to immerse myself in the story. This book has been added to my recommended list!

Witches, Magic, Romance, Battles!
WHAT IT IS ABOUT: Fritzi is a witch that lives in a world where witches are rounded up and burned by the Catholic church. After her entire coven is killed besides her and her cousin, Fritzi is just trying to hide and survive. While trying to help another witch from being taken to be burned, Fritzi finds herself being arrested instead. The captain the arrests turns out not to be who he seems and she is thrown into a plot to save all witches. WHAT I THINK: This is seriously one of the best witch stories that I have read in awhile. The story is unique just like the world that is built. The historical elements that are included just add to richness of the plot. I always love a stubborn and determined FMC and Fritzi doesn’t disappoint! While there is romance in this book, it compliments and enhances the overall story instead of being the main focus.

So good!
4.5⭐️ 1.5🌶️ This book had me constantly questioning what we were supposed to know about magic. I kind of seen the plot twist coming. With that being said the book kept me wanting more. I was thoroughly entertained, and disgusted with some of the characters behavior. I absolutely loved Liesel she was fierce and funny. Fritzi the FMC was so sassy, and deserved more than all the trauma she experienced. Otto had me not liking him at first, but quickly grew on me.

Interesting story, I’d ordered the second book when I was only half way through. Given the title and the description, I would’ve expected a bit more witchcraft but that’s just me being picky
