Spirulina

Have been using this for months now . These capsule are easy to take and swallow . with the typical Spirulina taste. The ingredients seem good, and I’ve noticed an improvement in my energy since I started using them. However, at the current price of £14.36, the value is questionable. The recommended serving size is quite large—up to 8 tablets a day—which means a bottle of 90 tablets lasts less than two weeks if you follow the full dosage. While the quality is decent, it becomes a very expensive product if you stick to the suggested serving size

I found these easy to take and the taste typical Spirulina. The ingredients are fine and I find that my sleep has improved a bit. At currently £14.36 it is an ok price for Spirulina, however, the service size is huge at up to 8 per day. This means that this bottle of 90 tablets is good for potentially not even half a month. If you take the full serving size, this is one expensive product.

So the first thing I noticed is that there was no inner seal - that's a huge red flag for me - 'sustainability'? Whilst I am careful about plastic etc when it comes to supplements etc the integrity of what I am about to ingest is vitally important. Also, whilst this product says it is made here in the UK I see that that actual spirulina comes from China. Next negative is the price -they recommend up to 8 a day meaning this pot of 90 capsules will only last about two weeks. There are cheaper just as comparable products out there. There are a few plusses - there is no after taste, no fillers just 100% organic spirulina, and the company do talk about being green, using recycled plastic, and sustainability - although shipping your ingredient all the way from China makes me wonder!

I’ve been using Spirulina for at least ten years and generally in tablet form. When I’ve been disciplined enough to take it on a regular basis, I generally find that my sleep improves, although that’s not the only reason for consumption. As a vegetarian who doesn’t particularly like many green vegetables, I’m more than aware of the importance of good nutrition and ensuring a varied diet. Sprirulina, with its vitamin and mineral rich algae, is certainly a means to address any potential shortfall. This product is also organic, which is an added bonus. The jar has 90 tablets, which means that if you’re taking 8 a day as recommended, that’s about two weeks’ supply for around £16. This seems rather expensive for this type of product and more than I would normally pay.

This spirulina supplement seems pretty standard supplement quality. The capsules are similar to many others I've tried, and are easy to take with food, with no aftertaste. Packaging is good and expiry date long. The list price of almost £16, though, is far too high for 90 caps - there are similar products, also organic, on the market that are quite a bit cheaper than that and for far more capsules. That said, there is currently an offer in place AND a 20% voucher on top - which would bring down the price to a little over £10. That's still not competitive, though. Decent supplement but you might want to shop around.

Spirulina is an Algae that grows naturally in mineral-rich waters. It is typically sold as a dark-green powder and intended for use as a food supplement. However, it does also have medical and health benefits. Spirulina may help with inflammation and blood pressure, lower bad cholesterol and increase good cholesterol. Spirulina is rich in protein, vitamins, minerals, carotenoids and antioxidants that may help protect cells from damage. Spirulina in powder form has the most awful taste, and to me it’s like drinking slime from the garden pond! This capsule form of Spirulina is certified organic and approved by the Soil Association of Great Britain. It is gluten free. It is a complete vegan source of protein containing all of the essential amino acids. For someone on plant-based diet, or looking to increase protein intake, spirulina could be a convenient source of high-quality plant protein. These supplements provide 500mg per serving. Up to eight capsules a day may be taken. If you take eight a day this pot is going to only last eleven days, making this quite an expensive supplement to bring into your daily routine. There are 90 capsules in this pot, it is difficult to tell how long it will last as it is a personal choice how many someone would choose to take, but I am taking three a day, so the pot will last me a month. The capsules are large and easily swallowed and there is no aftertaste. The capsules are a dark green. I have been taking them for over a week and it is difficult to tell yet if there is any benefit. I read once that NASA successfully used Spirulina as a dietary supplement for astronauts on space missions. So, if its good enough for an astronaut, I think I will continue to take them for a while. The price is good for a high-quality supplement of Spirulina.

I'm not qualified to comment on the effectiveness of taking spirulina supplements. These are supplied in a properly security sealed and resealable plastic bottle. 90 capsules are supplied whilst the instructions say to take up to 8 per day "dependent on your nutritional needs" The capsules are quite large but are easy enough to swallow with some water
