This was an incredible add to my Thanksgiving Day dinner. By far the fastest temp I ever got on meat and I cannot wait to use it while grilling. I have not had one bad product from Alpha Grillers and this is just icing on the cake.

Flimsy and very cheap feeling. Probe is hard to pull out too - has a vice like grip holding it against case so you need strong nails or some tool to prise it out, which makes it less than quick to use. Overall feels very plasticity. On the positive side - the box it comes in is positively luxurious - suitable for a fancy watch. Would rather less money spent on the case and more on the product That said - it does the job and measures the temp within about 4 seconds. Certainly cheaper than many others too - but i can see why now. Includes few Velcro patches to stick to something which some may find handy.

I have been wanting a instant read thermometer for quite some time, however, I have been put off by the number of poor reviews of the various products on the market. However when I saw this Alpha Grillers Instant Read Thermometer, and all the positive feedback for it and the responses of the owner to the few negative reviews offering to remedy their problems, I figured I would take a chance and order one of these Alpha Grillers. I was not disappointed. It came quickly and was everything I was expecting, it worked great right out of the box, accurate and very easy to use. It continues to be a very accurate and easy to use tool for both in the kitchen and out on the BBQ and smoker, and I expect to have a long and useful time with it, as it seems to be very well constructed and easy to clean (the probe only to wash, the body just gets wiped down). This has been one of my best buys so far! .I am very happy with this thermometer and would/will recommend it to all my friends and family.

For those that BBQ often (or even not so often - - - of course can be used to check progress in oven etc), this is a great device. The key attribute that caught my eye was the "fast" reading time of a few seconds. I was buying one for a christmas gift, but decided to buy one for myself - - it worked great!!!. I could open up the BBQ (am using a briquets type presently), make the quick measurement and close things up. Major family complaint in the past "over done". This will contribute to resolving that issue. Another secondary attribute of the unit is when you "release" the probe, the digital part is activated (turned on) and when you close it up, it is turned off (there is also an on/off button, etc) - - - very convient. Seems to be well made - - reliability remains to be determined - - but has great potential. BTW, a second key attribute that contributed to my buying the unit(s) is the digital readout - - - often with smoke over the BBQ, or at night, or ???? the small analog mechanical dial thermometers are hard to read (and also somewhat problematic to get place in the correct spot, to hot to move, cumbersome to turn the BBQ item over) add too hot to handle. I plan to buy others for gifts for the extended family - - - as noted, as great indoors (oven, microwave - - quick open, measure, continue cooking) as outside. I've had this product one day. I tried it on some random items (glass of ice water, glass of room-temperature water, cup of hot tea) just to try out my new gadget and the results seemed plausible. Even though I'm going to complain about a couple things in the following paragraphs, I want to emphasize that, at least after one day, this seems like a decent product that performs its job well - to take the temperature of food. The probe is spring-loaded, but it doesn't come out of its slot very easily. The instructions say to pull the probe out from the thin end, but the thin end is so deeply recessed in the slot that holds it that it's not possible for a person to hold it there; I have to pry the probe open by inserting a thin knife between the middle of the probe and the main case. This would look nice as a gift. The box has a foam insert with a thermometer-shaped cutout. There are instructions, a meat temperature guide, and four Velcro tabs presumably for use in attaching it to something that's not magnetic. It's very annoying that there's a important information on the box that's not on the instruction sheet. Washing instructions? Only on the side of the box. How to switch from Fahrenheit to Celsius? Only on the back of the box (and that function is hidden in the battery compartment, so it's not obvious.) Safety warnings? Only on the side of the box. I don't mind keeping instructions, but I don't want to keep to box too. I plan to stick this gadget to the side of my refrigerator and throw the box away. There's a lot to like about this thermometer. the quick meat temperature guide on the face of the thermometer itself; the magnet on the back; the broad range of temperatures it supports ( -58 F to 572 F). Only time will tell if it's just as good long-term. (It lost a star because of the difficulty of opening the probe, not because of their documentation issues.)

I used the thermometer for the first time on Memorial Day for BBQ chicken. It worked very well. I had about 20 pieces of chicken going with legs, thighs and breasts which presented a lot of variation in cook time. The thermometer really helped manage all that variation. I stuck it in some pieces 10-12 times as the meat heated up. Chicken is probably the toughest meat for this device since the bone gets in the way so quickly. I'm sure with steak and chops this thing will work even better. The tool was easy to use and reading the temps was much better than the fork style device I had before. Some have noted trouble opening the probe but I had no problem at all with this. And the magnetic feature works great on my Weber grill making it easy to store right where you need it rather than in a drawer in the house. An interesting aside - my wife asked if the pool was heated up like she wanted and it dawned on me, "use the new thermometer". It worked like a champ. So really you have a food and pool thermometer!
