Do u need to heat the water first to poach eggs?

What water.??? Just put egg in unit. Don't forget to prick yolk. Otherwise it explodes. In microwave for 30 seconds max. Perfect cooked egg. No mess, no waste, no problem

According to comments for egg poacher are you able to cook bacon in it?

I've never tried to, I used the single egg poacher! In theory the egg poacher being a container will cook anything as long as it doesn't require a prolonged period of heating, of which I'm not aware of any specified limitations. A Bacon microwaveable tray exist.
