Not very sharp on delivery, but put it to use on brush clearance straight away and it wanged small branches off effortlessly. I may sharpen it a little bit. Would have been nice to have a hanging loop or a hole to fit one.

Bought this to replace my old faithful one that i've had for 35yrs and it broke ! First look out the box and its good. Had to resharpen it to get rid of the grinder sharpened factory edge and do it with a file and stone . Now you can shave with it ! Real quality metal,as expected from Spear & Jackson,that holds its edge while working. Perfect balance and weight and lays hedge to perfection. A joy to use. Wasn't looking forwards to getting a new one as they never feel the same but pleasntly suprised how well it fits my hand and replaces my old one . IDEAL

nicely balanced and weighted does need a good sharpen before use to get the best out of the tool but not at all unusual for this type of tool. I like it and find it good value for money

Feels Heavy and quality but not sharp enough to cut even a small branch. Note for people from Kerala : Not sharp enough. good for braking coconut, you need to sharpen it in our traditional way with stone to use it for cutting something .

Exactly what I was looking for. Good, solid blade, good weight. No rust or bad workmanship at all. Needs some sharpening to get the edge how I'd like it, but I expected far worse. I'll be using it to take smaller branches off felled wood, which I think it will comfortably manage without sharpening tbh. Very pleased, money well spent.

Arrived blunt, with entire sections of the blade totally unsharpened. Steel is poor quality, and even after sharpening it, it lasted less than five minutes before the tang pulled entirely out of the handle.

A must have if you want to keep brambles under control.

I bought this wonderful knife to make kindling. I find the weight perfect to smash through logs and other off cuts of wood to make kindling. The knife is not razor sharp which is good otherwise I would be missing a few didgets by now. 😅

Very solid, well built tool. Thick, strong steel blade. This thing feels like it’s indestructible and your great grandchildren could still be using it in a hundred years. However, there are a couple of issues: First, the sharpening is very poorly done, it will need some work before it will cut well. Second, and even more of an issue is that the handle is huge. Almost comically huge. It’s way too big for my hand to hold comfortably. I will need to pare down the thickness of the handle considerably before I’ll be able to use it.
