Brain Quest 1st Grade Smart Cards Revised 5th Edition (Brain Quest Smart Cards) Review: Portable screen-free learning fun - Entertaining way to challenge your child’s learning and build their self esteem & confidence! Great for car trips, table conversations or snatches of waiting times. Slim design travels easily. Some questions are very easy; others are more difficult; some bring a good laugh. Requires no batteries. Promotes happy SCREEN-FREE shared times! Review: This series is essential schooling - Years ago I bought these cards to use for our homeschooled kids in upper elementary. Was looking for something for younger grandkids, since I was modifying the 4th and 5th grade levels for K-1. So I ordered the 5,6,7,8 year old levels. These are perfect. Good mix of all the disciplines, appropriate level, and easy to modify to fit kids from age 2 to age 7. We pull them out for meal discussion, as rewards, night-time prep, and family time. The kids ask for them. Since they come in sets of two, I sent one set home with mom and kept the second set here. PS Some of the questions challenge adults, so don't peek.

Really fun educational game that I enjoy doing with my son
We LOVE these. I grew up with them so it felt nostalgic to buy. But such a fun way to engage my son and really test and learn a variety of types of thinking. We can run through them multiple times. I wish the brand wuld expand further into workbooks etc. Or now thinking if he has mastered the 3-4 at age 3 ish, should I move him to the kindergarten ones. It is a win-win as he liked these "quizes" with me and I love to see how his mind works and he can process the questions

Pointy corners bad; rounded corners good. Bring back the rounded corners!
These are a continued source of fun and learning on our going on 3+ years, weekday journeys on the subways. 1) One big difference between PK, K and these - there are NO MORE ROUNDED CORNERS. I don't know if this is now the norm for all the sets or if it changes between K and G1. Either way, it stinks. The rounded corners were much less easy to destroy. The point corners are already starting to split and bend due to being tossed around in my backpack. 2) No more pictures which is fine but the pictures were fun. 3) Bought Grade 1 for a preschooler and they work fairly well - I have to adjust or explain things but that's part of the fun. The Kindergarten version was not quite enough anymore and the Grade 1 version is something to strive for. I think these are maybe more K level than G1. A solid product - lost a star because of the pointy corners.

Son loves this.
Bought this for my son who is in Kindergarten. He needs to be challenged when it comes to school work. Found out that most of these questions where very good for him. The questions are very both of the educational nature and generic nature. They test all aspect of educational spectrum, from math, reading, grammar to basic listening skills. I was stocked that he wanted to be asked more and more questions. There were some questions he did not understand because he is in Kindergarten but it allowed us opportunity to have a conversation about the question and for him to learn something new outside of the class. I think this question deck is perfect for 1st graders and even Kindergarteners who want to be challenged and keep their learning skills sharp. I have supplemented this question deck with Brain Question workbooks both the Kindergarten version and 1st grade as well. I highly recommend this to any parents that want to help their child when it comes to education.

We often read Brain Quest questions after dinner with our family. Both my 4 year old and 6 year old love answering questions. I do have to be a bit selective on which questions I ask, but it’s a great mix between answers they already know and new knowledge and facts for them to learn!
