Are the adjustable legs removable?

Yes, they can be left off and not used. If used, pockets for the adjustment screws would be a lot deeper than I wanted the possibility of standing water beneath the tray. I fashioned a small pocket in the MUD to allow for the protrusion for the adjusters and mudded it in. I like the look, and it works quite well. Good luck. Remember, the grate needs to fit tight but loose enough so it can be removed for maintenance cleaning.
