It made easy work of a pineapple. It sliced right through the skin and core with little effort. Trimming the pineapple was easy. It's light weight and well balanced. Even with it's beautiful smooth resin handle, I still had a good grip with water wet hands. I am not sure about the grip if it gets oily. Then again, most knives won't have a good grip if your hands get oily. Overall , this is a beautiful kitchen knife, not to short, not to long, just right.
