Growing Success Winter Tree Wash, 450 ml

It certainly stopped the black flies returning this year after a few years of infestation enough left to treat the tree again this coming year and hopefully get some cherries at last !

Too early to rate its effectiveness but it was easy to mix and apply. I have 2 cordon and one pear tree. I mixed 1.5l (15x10 ml) and it gave good coverage of all three. They are small 3-4 year old. I think a more mature tree might require at least 1l if not 1.5l. The product however does stink as you make it up. In other words do it out doors.

For three years I lost my grapes to mildew, my damson tree had problems with aphids. I used the wash on both several times during the dormant period and also in the spring. I had grapes without the mildew for the first time in 3 years. As a matter of interest I also used 3 percent hydrogen peroxide during the growing season. Pleasantly surprised 😀

I have used this for years now and swear that it helps in reducing problems from pests, however when I opened the last batch it started to spurt out as soon as I opened the lid and is stank. Immediate thought was that of human sewage. It was really stinking. I have never in the years of using this product had this. Wondering whether they have changed the ingredients or just have a 'bad' batch as I notice others have mentioned the same.

I personally think that giving my fruit trees a winter wash works. Not only are there less pests but the tree seems better overall (presumably because of the lack of pests attacking it). I have found that with our strange weather in recent years that I haven't had chance to give a second wash before blossom sets but even one wash helps.
