Review: Superb quality lead, built to last and last - I purchased three of these. One for my iPhone charger, another for my iPad charger, and the other I have connected to my USB hub that plugs into my Mac. A couple of the Apple branded equivalent cables have both developed small cracks forming in the plastic on the Lightning connector end, these are a couple of years old so wasn't too surprised. But the quality of the Apple leads was no where near the quality of the Lightning Quickdraw leads. Its just a pity that Apple do not put the same quality into their leads as their products. I really like how the Lightning Quickdraw cables have a reversible USB plug. By this I mean, usually with USB plugs, there is only one way that they can plug into a USB port. But with the Lightning Quickdraw, they go in whichever way you insert them. The quality and thickness of the cable on the Lightning Quickdraw lead is superb, and really puts Apple's skinny cables to shame. Despite the cable thickness, they bundle up fairly easily. I went with the space grey colour and these have a light grey aluminium housing round both the USB plug and the Lightning plug end of the cable, unlike the cheap plastic you get on Apple's leads. On the Lightning connector end of this cable is an LED. This glows/blinks orange when the device is charging, and goes a steady green when your iPad, iPhone is nearing the end of its charge. Annoyingly, when the LED goes green, this does not mean the device has reached 100 percent in its battery. I usually find that with my iPad, iPhone, that it goes green when its around the 95 percent mark. I emailed Woodford Design (Woodford Design make these cables) about this issue and their reply was: "The LED is controlled by the phone and switches to green when the battery stops requesting a current. This happens at different times for each individual phone. This can also be when the phone switches to trickle charge. The LED is only a general indicator and not precisely accurate". In use, the cables work exactly like the Apple cables. There are no pop ups on your iPhone, iPad telling you that this accessory is not compatible, which is something you get with cheap cables. But the Lightning Quickdraw cables are Apple MFI certified, which means they need to pass Apple's strict quality controls and also, the parts in the Lightning plug are licensed from Apple. The Lightning Quickdraw cables come with a lifetime warranty, so if they fail, Woodford Design will replace for free. So, admittedly the Lightning Quickdraw cables are not the cheapest, but compare them with the Apple version which costs £29, compared to the Lightning Quickdraw price of £18.50, and you can see that £18.50 is a good price to pay for to be able to get it replaced for free when it fails and also to get this kind of build quality. To sum up. If you want a very high quality lead that will be much cheaper and also longer lasting than the Apple branded ones at a fraction of the price, then I can highly recommend the Lightning Quickdraw cable. The only negative I have with them is that the green LED does not mean your iPhone, iPad's battery is fully charged, it's at best, an indication that it is nearly fully charged.
Review: Broke After Less Than 4 Months - Only lasted three and a half months before breaking. In theory, a good product, I liked the light indication of the charge level, and the magnetic cable tidy was a better substitution to the blue tack I was previously using. However these benefits are useless now the cable doesn't even work.
