Works great, balls last a long time. Harder to cock than the elite dart guns.
Me and my 4 year old son are loving it so far. It's pretty hard for him to cock, but he manages it.. We've had several elite dart guns and several of the rival guns for a few years, and I have to say the rival guns are much better. With high quality brand new darts, the dart guns work very well, but after a few weeks the darts end up bent and squished, and then they jam like crazy. The blue rival balls on the other hand hold up very well. They're quite a bit more powerful, which could be a positive or a negative. At close range they're quite accurate, but at longer ranges this opens up due to the curve ball effect. These guns are harder to cock than most toy guns. My son is only barely strong enough to do it, whereas he's been shooting the elite dart guns for a year. Another downside is that balls ricochet like crazy, which can make it harder to shoot safely in the house. Normally we only wear goggles when we're intentionally shooting at each other, but with these if you shoot a flat surface at close range the ball can come right back at you. This particular rival gun works great. I like the internal magazine and loading method. It doesn't seem like you can unjam it without taking the gun apart, so hopefully it wont get jammed up with hair. Very happy overall

Solid Addition to the Rival Springer line
I own a little over 60 nerf rival blasters, and the Forerunner is a competent addition to the line. It uses the same reliable breech loading port as the Kronos, takedown, and saturn, but with a larger internal magazine capacity. Firing velocity and priming weight are comparable to other rival springers. The priming handle is well-designed with ribbing and a rear hand stop, so you're not likely to get hand cramps if you're playing an extended game. This is a great purchase if you're just getting into the hobby and don't have a ton of money to spend on gear. You don't need to buy extra magazines, it has high capacity and decent velocity, and it's a sturdy and reliable blaster. Meat and potatoes. It'll keep you competitive in a game with your friends, as long as they're all using springers. But if you already have a takedown, saturn, or pathfinder this blaster doesn't really add much value to your arsenal. Personal nitpick: I don't care for the ergonomics. I wish the grip was a little higher to create a better center of gravity for the blaster. One final footnote: Headshot ammunition is the most popular off-brand rival ammo, but it WILL jam consistently in this blaster. If you're using official rival rounds, jams/misfires will be extremely rare.

Large gun with nerf ball bullets
Fun for the whole family! When we first got it, one of the guns was jammed so that took a little work but now they are working great. These come with little blue nerf balls vs. the foam bullets. I got them on sale at a great price. They are definitely large in size!

Great ergonomics
This is one of the best Nerf toys in the Rival line for ergonomics. The shotgun-style pump is super easy to cycle thru compared to the handle-pull styles of some other small Rivals. It can jam while loading sometimes though, but not too bad (shoots 2 at once). Careful though, it shoots fast and made my younger child cry when he got hit the first time.

Works great, hasn’t got jammed. Very powerful shot and fun to play with.

No shooting power compared to other rival guns
My son just opened this for his birthday. It barely shoots across our living room. We have multiple nerf rival guns that shoot great, this one is a dud. Very disappointed. The rest of the gun is pretty cool and he loves the sight, but the lack of power ruins it.

You'll shoot your eye out, kid
I bought 3 of these to be used at anytime in my house. Out of the 3, one broke within an hour of use. Requested a replacement and got it right away. My household isn't using this for games. It's for straight fun. They are very accurate. They can hurt so highly recommend at least glasses to protect the eyes. Youngest user is 12yr female and she has no problem loading and firing. If looking for some accurate and fun nerf guns, I highly recommend.
