I don't have any Festool products yet so will this work on a regular bench with holes or slots in it?

The clamp is design to fit through a 20mm hole.
Bench thickness 18mm approximately when use it through the bench.
You can of course use the clamp on most edges of-
Tables
Desk
Workmate
Work bench
And so on
Festool make so great clamps.

Can anyone tell me what the difference is between this and the guide rail clamp ?

Hi there!

This amazing and very handy clamp can be used for workpieces and also on yer Festool FS Guide, or FSK CrossCut ,Rails.

They also fit on Festool’s super duper amazingly handy MFT/3 Worktable or the WS-1000 Mobile workstation ( which uses essentially the same aluminum profiles on the table edges).

Now, I dunno what you are referring to by Guide Rail Clamp, but there is is another Festool Clamp
(Fastening Clamp FSZ 120 ,Festool item # 489570) that is essentially the same as this one, has the same steel element  , but has a twisting wooden handle for fastening the clamp, ‘stead of this quick lever-pull mechanism .

Both are good in my opinion, this one is quicker , but each has its specific uses for different situations .

In general the fastening clamp can sometimes fit where this lever clamp can’t, so Festool supply that one with certain items such as the FSK Cross Cut Rail, or the upcoming Guide Rail Miter Gauge Set Systainer ( set for an October release).

Now, if you are referring to the Festool Quick Action Clamp
(Quick Action Clamp FS -RAPID R/L(489790/768116)

That is an entirely different type of clamp that involves two main elements, and is designed specifically to hold Guide Rails in place on the workpiece when cutting or routing or whatever, but is not for fastening workpieces to the worktable.

Please could someone measure the length of these clamps - I have an older one and one from Amazon and they're slightly different in length?

Are you sure they are both Festool ?   Axminster sell a lever clamp but it is only 120 mm also bessey the Festool should measure 160 between the jaws
