Review: Lovely book for pre school - Loved this book, pictures and the story Review: Fond childhood memories - This is one of the earliest books I remember from my childhood, and I hadn't read it since I was about 5 years old, so was very happy to find that it hadn't lost it's charm when I bought it as a gift for my toddler. It's a fairly silly story but also has some nice messages about how even the smallest person can be a hero and how what you eat can make you stronger & healthier. For some reason my mother in law thought it was a bit inappropriate for young kids but I can't fathom why anyone would think that - perhaps because the baby throws some bullies in a pond?! They're great, both for little hands, and ensuring that there is always a bedtime story to hand when we're travelling. The Avocado Baby is a peculiar little story about a family who are described as `weak' (in the physical sense) and their hopes that the family's new baby will not follow in their footsteps. Luckily the baby loves avocados and the strength he gets from them enable him to chase off bullies, pull the other children uphill in a cart and push the car when it won't start. This is a sweet and absurd tale that will appeal to a little one's sense of humour.
