Very well made and good value.
For the relatively low price, I was pleasantly surprised by the well presented and solidly built rail. Attaches easily to both my camera and tripod, the movement is very positive and smooth. I have already taken several focus stacked images with great results. A good buy!

Get Basic Slide Shots.
I do a lot of macro photography and I have always carried around a large slider. However, with macro photography, this isn’t necessary. You are so close to your subject, the slightest movement is drastic. This is the perfect solution for that. The mechanics on it are well made and the thumbscrews work very smoothly and accurately. It's stable enough that the shutter itself does not cause enough movement to blur your image. The camera sits comfortably and rigidly on the slider. The issue is that this rail when used with high-magnification macro lenses results in a very short field of focus for images. This issue is further exacerbated when you add macro extension tubes to get even higher magnification. The result is the user needs to take a series of photos and merge them to get a useful depth of field. It would make an excellent small rail and a very useful and reliable tool. Although it is very compact, it has high rigidity and looks and feels good with a sense of precision and luxury. This is a much more expensive option as there are a few others on the market. But with that premium price comes a well-made piece of kit. I have high hopes for its longevity. The assembly of the screw drive mechanism is spot on with no backlash whatsoever. The movement is extremely smooth, something you would not expect in a product costing so little. When you look at the price of this compared to a high-end, small slider, it’s more affordable. I am using a Fujifilm camera with an accessory battery holder, weighing in at 3 lb 4 oz, which the macro focusing rail supported with no problem. I'm not sure how it would perform with a heavier camera/lens combo. However, It does appear to be able to hold and focus a heavier choice. I'm sure you can find many macro-focusing rails costing much more than this unit, but quality-wise, this is near the top. Overall a very compact and well-made slider. It offers smooth operation and I think the cost, although slightly high, is very worth it considering its premium nature. If you are after something that can offer more freedom to your macro Lens shoots, this is a great option. Highly recommend. Hope this review helps.

Very well made, easy to use.
This is really well made and has excellent, smooth, precise movement control across 4 axis. I do a lot of product photography for a local business and I wonder how I have coped without this thus far! It easily mounted to my Manfrotto tripods and was very stable. I think this item is good value for money and good quality construction. It is easy to use, and although I can see a few fellow reviewers noted excessive lubrication on their items, I did not experience this personally.

For Precise Macro Photography
This is a very good quality 4 Way Macro Focusing Rail Slider and built like a tank this is probably the best quality product I have ever gotten from Neewer. If you want to get into Macro photography you can't go wrong with this, sliding on the X & Y axis is very smooth I will say tho when attaching to your tripod if the tripod has a long thread don't screw on too tight as this will affect the sliding on the X axis it took me a few minutes to work out why I was struggling to slide it even with the X axis locking knob fully released and it was due to me connecting it too tightly to my tripod. You can be extremely precise with the measurements on both axis so will make taking macro photos that much easier overall I am extremely happy with this.

Perfromed better than expected but has grease on the rails
This NEEWER 4-way macro focusing rail comes in a brown carboard box the inside of which is well padded and contains the focusing rail and an Acra Swiss style quick release plate. The Acra Swiss plate has a standard 1/4" screw for attaching to a camera. The normal safety screws supplied with Acra Swiss plates are an integral part of this NEEWER plate so reducing the risk of the plate sliding out of the clamp. The macro focusing rail can be mounted to a tripod by either Acra Swiss or a 3/8"-16 threaded hole in the base. It can be adjusted in four directions via two 2 rails: forward, backward, left and right. For closeup and macro photography getting the subject composed well in the frame is difficult so this NEEWER focusing rail is ideal for aligning your subject. As you can see in the accompanying video the sliding movement is a little jerky and tightening the locking screws does move the camera position very slightly. However, once the locking screws are secured it is stable. On first inspection the rails looked a little flimsy so in the accompanying video I attached a camera at right-angles so you can see the virtual horizon and how the level varied as the rails were extended. To my surprise the level was maintained even when the rails where fully extended so you can be sure the level will not be affected by using the rails at full reach. I would be comfortable using this focusing rail for fine tuning a macro composition, however the jerky movement when sliding and slight change when tightening the locking screws precludes using this focusing rail for multiple image focus stacking. The item I found disappointing was that the ridge of both rails was greasy, and I mean a thick, sticky grease. This was easily transferred to your fingers when using the focusing slider and risked getting your camera covered in grease. I am not sure if this grease is there by design to help smooth the sliding function or was due to a manufacturing issue unique to my sample. As such I rated it three stars assuming the grease can be cleaned off. If the grease is there by design, I would not use this focusing rail, the risk of transferring to the camera is too great. In terms of openness, I was sent this item for an impartial review and I hope you found it useful.

After replacing my old bridge camera, I replaced old equipment. I owned a 4-way focusing rail, but it wasn't very well-built. There was no way it was going to have the accuracy or build quality for my new Panasonic FZ2500, a rather weighty camera, weighing over 2 pounds. I chose the Neewer, after buying a very nice Neewer carbon fiber tripod on Amazon. Neewer has a good reputation for quality, especially given the mid level price point. I looked at a few other types of focusing rails, but I really need the 4-way to do supermacros photography, like the snowflakes. I've never wanted to get back into carrying lenses, etc, so after 35mm, I simply decided on bridge cameras. I've photographed microscope slides with my bridge camera. I use a Raynox 250 super macros lens that I bought several years ago from Amazon. This requires the lens to be extended with the Raynox attached, to achieve super macros. Sharp focus is achieved by moving the entire camera back and forth, with a correction in framing by moving right/left. The 4-way focusing rail that I had, shifted when adjusting. The Neewer is rock steady. It doesn't use a worm gear (which can introduce backlash). Both axis are moved by rack and pinion mechanism. When switching to the opposite direction, there is less than 1mm of a turn of the focusing knobs before its engaged. You'd never notice it unless you were testing for it. The motion in all 4 directions is extraordinary smooth. Focusing tension is adjustable by smaller knobs. The focuser comes equipped with a Swiss Arca quick release plate with camera mount. I've got the Arca plate from the Innorel F20 pan/tilt head on the camera (another excellent piece of equipment that I bought on Amazon), which fit the focuser nicely. The mount clipped well, and very securely, holding the camera firmly in place. As a astronomer, I've used and worked on many telescopes, most with a rack and pinion focuser. I'll see how much vibration is introduced by using the focusing rail. I may outfit the focuser knob with a hands off, powered focusing adapter that fits over the knob. Addressing a complaint I've seen: For under $100, the Neewer 4-way rail is an excellent piece of equipment. I can't see where it would be improved. I think I saw a complaint or two about wobble in the rails. I have to believe this was from loosing the focusing adjustment too much. If you loosen the tension too much, you can indeed wiggle the rails. This is the same problem that you will have with any rack and pinion system, it's not a defect in materials or workmanship. I have a $500 aftermarket telescope focuser which will do the same thing. The secret is to maintain proper and enough tension, while ensuring smooth movement. When properly adjusted, there is no wobble or unwanted rail movement.
