Surprisingly effective and easy to use, although the instructions are in tiny print!
I bought this 'Espresso Brown' dye with the intention of dying two old cotton throws, each of which was approx 1.2m square, and which had previously been dyed bright orange several years ago. The total dry weight of fabric was about 1.6kg, which is greater than the maximum weight stated for one pod of dye, but all I wanted to do was to tone down the existing colour. I had expected that I might end up with a sort of terracotta shade, but wasn't really too concerned about the end result, so figured that it was worth a punt using a single dye pod. I gave the throws a quick pre-wash to leave them damp and then followed the pack instructions, emptying the contents straight into the machine drum as indicated for larger quantities of fabric, and putting it through two full cotton cycles, with detergent added in the second cycle. The end result is an even coverage, and the shade is a rich 'chocolate' brown, not much lighter than the shade indicated by the manufacturer, which was surprising given the excess weight of fabric I was using. There was no staining left behind in the machine or on the door seals, despite the alarmingly dark colour during the process. All in all the product was easy to use and produced better results than I expected. My only criticism is that the instructions are printed on a long narrow strip of paper in tiny letters less than 1mm high, and are in white on a black background, which makes it very difficult to read. My eyesight is fine for reading most things, but even with reading glasses on I also needed a magnifying glass to read the instructions properly.

Great even dye and rich navy colour
I bought in Navy Blue to dye some curtains, and Iโm really pleased with the result. I used two pods per curtain panel, and it gave a great even dye with a lovely rich colour all over. The navy came out deep and consistent, with no patchiness, and it really refreshed the curtains beautifully. Overall, it was easy to use and gave a strong, professional-looking result. Iโd definitely use it again for larger fabric projects.

Dye has come a long way - it's now super easy to use, worked well, but results are still variable.
I remember the days of boiling up our dyes with tons of salt so this has impressed me greatly for the ease of use. I took care with the instructions. I checked the wash cycle. I was dying 100% cotton bedding (to de-grey the house). It worked really well and the green took nicely over tones of pale grey - you could just still see the pattern through but I rather liked that. However, results are variable - the next things I dyed were also 100 cotton, but the colour took quite differently. I then pushed my luck and dyed a pair of curtains from the same range (also 100% cotton). Worried that they would come out different shades if I did them separately as the other items had done, I was keen to wash both together, but even though I used 3 packs for that attempt I pushed my luck on the amount of fabric in the machine and it came out uneven (streaks of darker tones across where the fabric must not have unfolded in the machine). I did pause the machine part way through and moved the fabric by hand to try to mitigate this - achieving nothing but a green hand lol. I'm not too unhappy with results - it's made an inexpensive change to my bedroom colour theme, but not one thing matches even though I used the same dye, and when the curtains are closed the uneven streaks show, so if you're determined to have everything the same shade this may not be the way to go for you. So - overall, fabulous, especially for single items. But not without issues to be mindful of if you're shade matching, which may be a big deal for some people.

Easy - great results
Easy 5-star review. This was really simple to use, and Iโm genuinely pleased with the results. Three pairs of jeans, one pair of shorts, and a T-shirtโeverything turned out great. Really good stuff. Iโll definitely be buying again! I pre washed the clothes as per instructions, took the label of the pot, popped it into the washing machine and....magic. I did then pop the washing machine onto a quick wash to clean out.

Perfect result
Dyed 1.2kg (3 metres) of brand new cream-coloured cotton corduroy fabric. Followed the instructions and used 2 pods emptied into the machine with the damp fabric placed on top. My fabric came out dyed perfectly evenly all over, and a lovely olive green colour at the full shade. Very easy to use, and the colour is exactly what I expected.

Really does work itโs amazing ๐คฉ
Amazing product I would highly recommend it!! I had some faded blacks which looked charcoal and worn, they all now look dark black, and are even and uniform. I put 3 dresses (Tshirt / stretch) fabric items in the cycle along with a pair of jeans, so 4 items in total. They all look brand new and back have been brought back to life! I will definitely be purchasing and using again in the future. Go-Dylon-Go ๐

Dyes well, but not colourfast.
Dyed the fabric well. Easy to use. Looks good. But not colour fast, colour does leek, my white underwear has now got blue dye on them that won't come out. The dyed item has been washed several times too.

Great idea for restoring worn or dull colors on some types of clothing.
I was looking to recolor some stuff that was looking pretty color worn, so i decided to try the Dylon Grey washing machine pod. You get enough dye for 600g, that is essentially one pair of trousers and one shirt, or say a few smaller items. I picked the grey, because it was the closest color to my faded trousers that I could get. Preperation is fairly simple, you wash the clothes first (unless they require a pre dye solution), then add the dylon pod to the wash. Select cotton 40 degrees and let the pod wash the clothing. Once that is done, depending on washing machine time, you will need to then rewash the clothes again in normal detergent. Hang up to dry, do not use a tumble dryer for this process. You then need to wash the machine again empty, to make sure you have removed any remaining dye. There are many variables to a successful dye wash, one being the material is suitable for the dye, the color. The wash time for the machine can vary considerably for a full forty degree wash, can take as long as three hours. It is not recommended you use any eco wash load cycles either. I had a successful outcome, both clothes (trousers and hoodie), (which had color worn wear marks), looked better and should last a few more months longer. I was impressed at the results on these fabrics. There was no color patchiness I just let the clothes dry naturally. The pods are reasonably priced and very good value if you want to try and save a piece of clothing that is materially dull or lost some of its color. Something to consider however: The amount of time needed in the washing machine for a forty degree wash for the dye pod can be as long as 3-4 hours in wash cycles. This does not include at least two more hours for pre-wash of clothing before use and then another post wash to clean the machine after use. This time will vary between machines though, so maybe slightly longer or shorter depending on the make and model of machine you own. Pros: Easy to use, comes in a range of dye colors, comprehensive instructions. Cons: Does not work on synthetics, must be 40 degree wash and may require a pre dye wash pod too.
