Position Changing for Violin: Violin part

I learned position changing from this book over 30 years ago and still use it with my own pupils. Despite having bought other more modern-looking tutor books over the years, I still go back to this one. It uses the tried-and-tested 'guide finger' technique, and explains all the steps fully. Once each shift is learned in isolation, the shifts are consolidated in a piece of music for each shift.A great buy for any violin pupil who is moving onto ABRSM Grade 3 standard.

Really helpful, simple exercises and enjoyable practice pieces

It's simplicity and progression is so good

Goes through position shifting from 1st to 3rd position and back (for 1st, 2nd and 3rd fingers). No lovely pictures, so can be boring for little kids, and some of the tunes aren't that great (maybe it is just my daughter's playing!). However excellent exercises that will no doubt prepare her well for grade 3 and beyond.

Great book. My tutor uses it in class. Good warm up exercise before the piece. Challenging but great when 3rd position click.

Hi,I bought this book for my child who learns Violin. The book is very good for beginners and intermediates.

This is an inexpensive Must-Have book for beginner and intermediate violin students. My private instructor uses the Essential Elements/Technique 200 for String series. This is a great series but Position Changing for Violin is an excellent reinforcement.

Las canciones que vienen son muy bonitas y con una sonoridad muy folk, y me encanta el pequeño ejercicio que viene antes de cada una para aislar el cambio de posición. Es muy útil. Para leer música y practicar cambios de posición, es un buen recurso.

L'obiettivo è quello di imparare i cambi di posizione, ma attraverso brani molto belli da suonare. Il miglior libro sui cambi di posizione, mai noioso, molto musicale per cui alla fine risulta semplice imparare. Bello!!!
