What size are the largest ones?

About 1cm in diamiter. Straight across the middle from edge to edge. Hope this helps.

I'm trying to replace a fairly substantial snap on my barbour coat, are these hard-wearing enough for that?

I would think the larger might be alright. I have only used the smaller ones as fastening on my granddaughters activity bag. Might be advisable to look for a stronger fastener, Barbour coats are usually heavy in fabric I believe.. Hope this might help.

Yes. They're not especially strong, though, so light pressure fixing only would be my advice.

A selection of snap fastners that are useful to keep in the sewing box. Used a couple of the largest to pin down a fur collar that kept sticking up on a coat. Worked well. Good value.
