The Product was an easy install. Took less than an hour and is working great. The install time includes building an elevated position so that the unit's top sits above the water level. The input tube was installed where the line from the pump goes into the filter head. I put the output on the return fitting at the pool. The one negative I saw in many other comments was how hard it was to remove the cap to add more chlorine. I suspect they are tightening the cap too much. This is an O-ring seal, which doesn't need to be tightened hardly at all. The pressure in the unit will cause the o-ring to deform sealing it. Once the pump is turned off the pressure drops, the o-ring goes back to its original profile. Just put the cap on until it touches the o-ring and then maybe tighten another couple of degrees. If you are worried about a leak, just turn the pump on and look. If its leaking, very unlikely, then turn off and tighten just a little more. I've added chlorine 4 times so far and it has been finger tighten off and on. No wrench or pliers needed.

After using it for six months, I can tell you a couple of things. The lid is very hard to open. Use care to just barely tighten it -- and even when you do, you'll probably get it too tight, especially if you haven't opened it in a few weeks. I screwed mine into the concrete slab, but since the chlorinator rotates in the base, you don't have any leverage to turn the lid without turning the whole unit. This makes it much harder to remove the lid. Right now I'm ordering a pair of strap wrenches, which I hope will help (two of them, one to hold the unit still, the other to turn the lid) Take a look at the other comments for the person who mentioned getting PTFE tubing. After just six months, I can confirm that the black plastic tubing that comes with the chlorinator will get brittle and break. It's worthless. In trying to loosen the lid, today I cracked the feed line. I'm going to take the advice of that other reviewer and order the PTFE tubing and hope for a better result. I should have done it in the first place. Shame on Hayward for including that cheap plastic tubing which will, without a doubt, fail within months. On the plus side, I will say that the chlorinator has worked very well since I installed it six months ago. My pool is chlorinated nicely and stays clean, usually with the filter about 3/8 open. It holds enough chlorine tabs to keep my pool chlorinated for a month or more. I was worried that ordering the smaller one might be a mistake, but it's been perfectly adequate for my average-sized in-ground pool.

Works great, saves chlorine tablets although requires flow adjustment seasonally based on outdoor temperatures. Taking one star away because the black tubing became brittle and cracked after only one season. When trying to replace, the plastic tubing connector also broke. Here’s the important part: do yourself a favor and before you install this, buy from Amazon 8mm OD x 6mm ID PTFE tubing (yes PTFE, not poly or any other material) and use instead of the black tubing that comes with the unit. PTFE is UV stable, does not react with Bromine or Chlorine, and won’t crack under low temperatures. It’s the same material used to insulate cabling on the space shuttle and the tubing is widely used for 3D printers so it’s not that expensive… but it will save you from having a leak down the road. One note: I don’t know why the price went up so much in one year. I paid around $54 in Sept of 2022.

I've had this product before and it is so easy to use. Monitor your pool's chlorine levels. If the level is too high, turn the dial down on the chlorinator. If the level is too low, turn the dial up. What can be easier than that?!

Worked like garbage. Kept adjusting the flow and never really got it properly set. I finally turned the knob to off. Mid afternoon last Saturday I heard a loud boom, looked around and found pieces of chlorine over a 20' section of my side yard. The chlorinator blew up! The pieces you see inside are all broken pieces of 3" tablets that were widely scattered.

Fast, easy install and works great. Couldn't be happier.

Easy to install and use. Though buy the wrench tool right away. I had to get mine on ebay as it was not available through Amazon. If not opening to refill is near impossible.

After many Hayward products, I tried to cheap out on a lower cost chlorinatior which never worked properly. So, buy quality!

As described: used like new. Very satisfied.

i just set the connector is place tighten and the one broke after 2 turns No tape or nothing CHEAP. CHEAP. CHEAP It must have ben made by 6 year olds I guess I must order later in the week China is not for me. Shame on you Hayward
