Great piece of kit. If you have a suitable optical drive (I had one reclaimed from an old PC), installation is a doddle, and this enclosure is nicely built and works perfectly (on Windows 11 in my case). My main reason for wanting it is to still be able to rip CDs on my new optical drive-less PC, and it works exactly as I expected/hoped. My old drive still rips at high speed (I watched it go up to 37x in my first test). DVDs and Blu-rays play fine with a standard player app. The enclosure comes with USB3.0 cable, screws and screwdriver to secure the drive, and rubber feet. The only frustration is that it comes with a US plug, so you'll need a UK-US plug adapter. UK mains voltage/frequency is fine.

It's way faster than a external dvd drive. Plus it's good to install game based discs that because the read writer speed is faster. My external dvd slim drive is way slower it took 3hr to install GTA V. Where as it took just over a 1 hr to install with 5.25" internal dvd rewriter with this enclosure

Annoying points first. It comes with an American style power supply and no adaptor which is illegal under UK law!! The instructions are inaccurate, as it fails to mention that you have to turn the unit over to locate 4 screw holes which should align with mounting holes in the base of your drive unit. Its supplied with a USB 3 lead....well neither my laptop or desktop computer recognised it at all, just by chance I plugged it into a USB 2 port and bingo the computers both recognised it.... So I have no idea what the deal is there. The unit works with Makemkv so was able to back up some blu rays. I have an lg M drive blu ray unit working in the enclosure. The build feels solid enough, just annoying the PSU is foreign and usb 3 is debatable. Other than it seems ok.

Excellent bit of kit, as with most new pc builds these days optical drive bays are not a thing. Rather than buy a second usb drive I decided to use my Pioneer drive from my old build. Slotted straight in then screw it in place. The power supply is as mentioned USA but I bought a 12v uk plug power supply with this. Everything works fine, drive found straight away on win 11.

A perfect design! Mains plug adapter is needed, but easy to find. This is indeed fine engineering and the result is excellent performance.

It seems like a reasonable product. It feels sturdy (it's an aluminium case rather than cheap plastic). It comes with the screws needed to secure the end plate and the DVD drive. However it comes with a US PSU so I can't get it working. The box says "Universal switching AC adapter", by which they mean not-at-all-universal. Most PSUs come with interchangeable faceplates to allow one product to work for US, UK, EU & other customers - not this one! Unless you just happen to have a US-UK adapter lying around it's useless.

Extremely well made, very sturdy metal case. Fits together with extreme accuracy. Well designed connectivity and plenty of room for even the largest drive. Only downside is that UK users will need to provide a UK standard 12v DC 3 amp power supply.

It's a great enclosure easy to install the drive, well built. Comes with screws and a cute little screwdriver should you need it. My problem and if you're going to sell on Amazon UK it's a serious one - the power brick has a USA style plug. No UK adaptor even. So I can't use the thing until I get either an equivalent UK AC power brick or a US->UK converter. Either way it's more money, more waiting, and really annoying. Would otherwise be a 5* product, but this is really disappointing.

It came securely wrapped, fast delivery and in good conditions. The material feels sturdy enough, metallic. It came with an extra USB 3 cable and 2 more screws. Easy to install, pretty intuitive, you don’t even need the instructions, took me aprox 5 minutes because I was doing it in the floor and in a uncomfortable position. The rubber feet are not that good, they will detach easily. But if you won’t be moving it a lot it’s ok, just ve careful to not remove one by accident. I bought it for a LG WH14NS40, fitting perfectly. Definitely worth buying if you are looking for a disk drive enclosure. I’ll buy another one if I decide to but another disk drive. ————————— Llego bien asegurado, rápido y en buenas condiciones. El material se siente macizo y aguantador, es de metal o un material muy parecido. Me llego con un cable de USB extra y con dos tornillos de más. Fácil de instalar, es muy intuitivo el ensamble. No necesitas el instructivo realmente. Me tomó aproximadamente 5 minutos porque estaba sentado en el piso en una posición incomoda. Las patitas de hule con las que vine se despegan fácilmente, no hay forma de asegurarlas mejor. Si que tengan cuidado de no perderlas o despegarlas una vez ya puestas. Están bien si no planeas mover mucho el lector de lugar, aunque igual, con la mínima resistencia se despegan. Lo compre para un LG WH14NS40, queda perfectamente ajustado y seguro. Completamente recomendable si estás buscando una funda para tu lector de discos. Muy seguramente compre otro ya que me anime a comprar otro lector.

Works great. Quality materials, and looks sharp. I trust Vantec and own many of their products. Installation was trivial, and no drivers were needed. I would buy again.

I believe i had to wait for almost 2-3 weeks to receive this gem. But its very very very difficult to get a Blu-ray Writer, and i m eagerly waiting if i could get it somewhere. But i'll give my serious reviews sooner.

Well impressed with this. You just plug in the SATA cable that comes with the device then slot the drive in until flush. Plug and play USB, works great. Very stylish too, it's made of a nice metallic finish so it's a solid quality product.
