EXCELLENT PRODUCT for dressings and keeping medical patches in situ
Opsite is a very thin adhesive waterproof film which is used in hospitals to keep all types of dressing in place. I use it when medicinal patches come loose during hot weather. It has a low allergy level - great where traditional plasters and micropore cause the dreaded itchy rash. If you use medical patches you will know how hot weather and hot baths reduce their adherence and you begin to get that crackling sound when they are coming loose. I have used this film for 24-72 hours each time and it ALWAYS keeps patches in place that would otherwise have come off. This is especially important if you use morphine/analgesia patches because not only are they expensive, but if a patch comes off without your knowledge it's absence will eventually cause dreadful withdrawal symptoms Overall: a fantastic adhesive film which is cost effective and very reliable. I find one metre is enough for several weeks.

Best wound care ever.
I love opsite. It is basically a sticky clingfilm, lets air in and not water, hardly visible on your skin, extraordinarily flexible, but excellent protection for a wound. It DOES take some getting used to. First you cut it to the size you want, then peel off the backing to expose the sticky side. Place it on the skin where you need it, then peel off the other backing to leave the thin, barely visible, second skin that is opsite covering the wound, or covering the patch you put over the wound. (I use it direct). To take off the second backing occasionally needs a bit of work, I have been known to resort to teasing it apart with a pin. Opsite can keep the healing fluid naturally produced by the wound in place, optimising healing. I have used it for years.

Great product
My 10 year old son used an Omnipod insulin pump and a Dexcom constant glucose meter which are both stuck to the skin with a fabric patch. I have bought this to go over the fabric patch of the Dexcom as it tends to lift after a few days. The Opsite Flexifix is easy to cut to the desired size and easy to apply. It is keeping the Dexcom in place whilst allowing his skin to move. I've used all sorts of plasters and tapes to try and keep it in place before now, but nothing worked, but this seems to be doing the job and it isn't causing him to scratch. It seems like a really good product and the cost of it compared to replacing the sensor on his Dexcom is minute, so I recommend it highly.

Good film dressing. Reasonable price...
Opsite film can be a bit of a fiddle to apply but i think that's pretty standard for all adhesive film dressings, especially ones that you may need to cut to a desired size yourself. I use it to secure analgesic patches to my skin, preventing them from peeling off/ coming loose & compromising the integrity of the drug absorbing. The opsite film stayed on fairly well despite increased sweat production during the very hot summer we've just had. It didn't last in the swimming pool though, despite not being submerged in the water for long periods of time. I still prefer Tegaderm for top staying power but my regular supplier seems to have disappeared recently & I've been unable to get it for a price I'm willing to pay!! The opsite was a reasonably priced alternative & i wouldn't rule out buying it again.

Gave me a rash
The actual product works, it’s easy to put on and adds protection. However it gave me a rash on the area and made it very red and itchy. Taking it off was painful although maybe it wouldve been better to take off in the shower.

Perfect alternative to Tegaderm in my case...
According to the patient leaflet it is 'permeable' and waterproof. In this case it means it is 'breathable' as it allows gases and vapour to pass through the dressing, whilst allowing the dressing or patch underneath to remain dry. If it was 'impermeable' then it would not allow air or anything else to pass through, making it air/water tight. Anyways thought I'd try and clear that up. However, I bought this to place over my BuTrans patch as recommended by my pharmacists as it is way cheaper than Tegaderm. Tegaderm is more flexible and it's primarily used to apply to open/broken skin. Opsite Flexifix is not sterile, therefore it shouldn't be used directly on open sores/cuts. Opsite Flexifix Does the job I need it for. It keeps my patch on and keeps it dry, so I can now shower and swim without worry of getting it too wet and coming unstuck or wasting patches by having to replace them more often.

Literally saved my holiday!
I had to have an infected cyst removed from my back two weeks before I was due to go on holiday to the Maldives. The op left me with a 2cm hole in the middle of my back and aftercare instructions of no swimming whatsoever as the wound was not to get wet under any circumstances. I was gutted - we had chosen the Maldives specifically for the snorkelling; there is pretty much nothing else to do out there. I found this product after searching on line and in spite of a couple of negative reviews, decided to give it a go. I cannot rate it highly enough. It literally saved my holiday. I did take a couple of extra precautions, largely based on the few negative reviews of this product. I wondered if the one where 'it didn't stick at all' was due to suncream, so I bought a half wetsuit so I could snorkel without needing to use any suncream at all on my back. It easily stood up to two or three snorkelling sessions of an hour or more EVERY DAY and did not let one drop of water in! (Changed the dressing daily as this was part of the aftercare) Read the instructions carefully, follow them to the letter, make sure the site is clean and completely dry when you apply it - it will not let you down.

Great stuff
Use for stoma support, on wounds and on the back of my Apple Watch to prevent it from bringing my wrist up in hives. Works well.
