Totally awesome burner.
Absolutely stellar burner. I've had it over a year and works awesome! It has a grounded plug, which makes it much safer than the typical two pronged plugs that overheat and melt. It also has a built in cooling fan that runs after it's shut off, until the unit is cool. This protects the internal electronics from melting. I highly recommend it.

Beautiful, I like it (but it's not 1800W)
Stable, easy to use, solid quality for a 115V outlet — but the power is nowhere near 1800W. I bought this for my patio cooking table since my induction cooktop doesn’t work with some pans. We cook smoky or splattery foods outside to keep the new kitchen clean. As a retired EE, I had to check the 1800W claim. At 110V that would mean 16.4 amps, which is over the 15A limit for most outlets. Even at 120V, it would max out the circuit. My power meters show that when the unit displays “1800,” it’s really pulling about 1140W (114V at 10A). Funny enough, the model number is “OC-1050,” which is much closer to reality than the marketing label. That said, it works. Steaks, burgers, and my wife’s 6 quarts of stew cook just as well as on our kitchen IR range. Fan noise? Not a problem outdoors. It’s quieter than a hair dryer, more like a computer fan on high. The smooth top with the knob on the front makes cleanup easy.

Works well. 4.3 stars. Read for details.
It has been 2 months so far, and this has been great. I cannot give it 5 stars because that would mean it is perfect. But I could give it 4.3 stars. There were reviews about it not turning off for people. I think that was because it actually does turn off, but there is a cooling fan in it (probably for the electronics) that continues to run for several minutes after it's turned off. That being said, that fan is a bit loud. Not obnoxious, but it's there. It's more like white noise. I question its rated 1800 watts because I can run this on my 20 amp kitchenette circuit at the same time as my toaster oven, and the circuit breaker doesn't pop. I can also run my GE spacemaker 1800 microwave simultaneously and the breaker doesn't pop. I have not tried all three yet. Mathematically, the hot plate and one other item mentioned on the same circuit should blow that breaker. It WILL boil a quart of water. It takes awhile, but it will. It will probably boil more, but patience is required. My 22 year old GE glass top stove has spoiled me and it is faster than average in my opinion. It fries up eggs in an aluminum pan just fine. Again, not as fast as my full size stove, but it does it well. Not much to complain about so far. This is not a high power appliance. And honestly, people would complain about blowing circuit breakers if it was because most of the general public cannot understand why their coffee maker can't be running at the same time, so they may as well fudge the numbers to reduce complaints. An update after I have been using it a couple of years: The fan got noisy, then the noise went away, and then it got noisy again. I took it apart and found the plastic fan shroud to be deformed by heat and then the fan blades would hit it like a baseball card in bicycle spokes. I simply removed a bunch of material from the shroud with my Dremel and now it is quiet again. I've been using it quite regularly and this is the only problem I've had with it. At this rate, I would still buy it again.

Works great
Updated reivew on the replacement one: It works great. The legs sit flat. Everything works as expected. The timer goes up to 4 hours. It shuts off at the preset time. It heats up fast. It will keep running to cool itself off once it shuts off, so you know the plate is still hot. I still wouldn't advise touching the plate until it is completely back to room temperature just in case. There is a fast setting and a fryer setting that seem to both go to the maximum temperature so I don't know if they are actually duplicates as mentioned in other posts or if the fast setting actually does heat up faster than the fryer setting. Either way, you can use the dial to turn it up or down. I really like the look of this. The cord is 48 inches (4 feet) and is 3 prong for the United States outlets and is heavy duty. This arrived with the legs not sitting flat so it wobbles back and forth. I returned this one for a replacement. I will redo the review if the new one comes without this defect. It was shipped in the box that the manufacture put it in and so when it arrived the box was bent in and smashed so this could have happened in shipping. Hopefully the new one comes in a box and not just the manufactures box with no protection. It seemed to turn on and heat up fine but without sitting flat its not really usable.

It works!
I searched for portable cook top, so I can fry some food outside of my house. Previously got some other cook top and was very disappointed, because it didn’t generate enough heat for frying. This cooktop is different case! I took a while to heat it up and set the temp to 1800 degrees. Frying was good! Everything came out cooked well! I love that it is not heavy, easy to clean and it works! I am happy with this purchase.
