Good question. They do have mass and volume, light bounces off them and they persist in time.

Seriously though. They are real earplugs. They are not anything other than earplugs. They are very good: soft, quite comfortable, and easy to find in dim light conditions.

Question 2

If you buy 3 separate smaller packets do the earplugs last longer than in 1 large packet ie do they start to degrade when unsealed?

Not really it would take a long time to degrade only problem opening a pack is keeping them free from dirt

Im confused does this come with 1 pair or does it come with 60 pairs. what does it mean by 60 count and 30 count. is it one pair for 6.27?

Pack is for 60 individual. Packs with 2 plugs in each small packet. Price is for the whole 60 packets. Hope this is helpful

Are these single use, ir can you use a single pair multiple times?

It depends on how you feel about reusing earplugs without being able to clean them using liquids.

The foam seems to have something in it which slows down its re-expansion after you’ve rolled the plug to fit into the ear canal. Once the plug is positioned it slowly decompresses until it fills the canal, blocking sound. But this effect gradually wears off on repeated use till they don’t keep their compressed shape anymore. If you wash them, it hugely accelerates this wearing-off effect. So they cease to be malleable and instead turn into plain soft foam which no longer compresses to fit into the ear. So you can’t easily clean them.

So if you want absolutely clean earplugs each time, these are single use ... or if you are OK with ‘looks clean’ MAYBE 2–3 uses depending on your ear canal cleanliness :-)

If you don’t mind earwax in your ears then in principle you can keep using them until the squashability runs out. My unscientific tests indicate that’s about 15–20 uses MAXIMUM. To a certain extent you can clean them without water and of course you can sanitise with a light spray of peroxide or alcohol (but don’t rub it into the earplugs). You can in theory make a thirty-pack last over a year but I don’t think most people would want to. As long as you have healthy ears and keep the earplugs in a clean protected place you can use your judgment! I’m pretty sure though that doctors and hygienists would not recommend more than a few re-uses. A bit like socks between washes. Bacteria could build up.

They are not eco-friendly so I do recommend re-using somewhat if you can bear to then disposing of before they get grungy. They are the only ones I’ve found that are comfortable enough to sleep with.
