Works perfectly for iMac 2011
I needed to upgrade my old iMac 2011 hard drive to a SSD. When you remove the old HDD the fan operates at 100% which is annoying but you can use this excellent adapter to stop that. Step 1 is to place your SSD under the optical drive (per iFixIt). Then if you decide to remove your original hard drive (which will cause the iMac HDD fan to operate at 100%), you can plug the empty hard drive slot cable into this adapter. Because to grounds pin 11, it stops the hard drive fan from operating at full power. And Since the slot is empty anyway, it won't matter that you are disabling the HDD temperature sensor. Good luck.

Does the job - just
A really useful splitter/connector - it solved a problem where I needed an additional Molex power supply as I only had SATA connectors, all of which were in use. The cable lengths were short, but it seems that all are, and this was the only splitter that I found which gave me what I wanted. It took a lot of re-routing other cables to ensure I got it to reach where needed - but it works, and it works well.

StarTech 12 inch SATA Male to Molex Female LP4...
Fitted a USB 3.0 pci-e card to my computer, but run out of 4 pin molex connecters to power it up, I have a modular psu, but couldn't find the extra cables that went with it, so this StarTech cable saved the day, it's well made, both of the end connecters are attached strongly to the cables.

Saves space where it's at a premium
It's bizarre how many peripheral manufacturers use a mixture of sata power and Molex meaning that you have to run both types of cables to similar locations. These little adaptors remove the need for the Molex cable in lower wattage systems making the inside of a PC quite a bit tidier.
