Perfect for Homemade Ferments!
I recently purchased the Fermentation Crock Jar 2 Liter and it has quickly become an essential tool in my kitchen for making kimchi, sauerkraut, and pickles. The stoneware design is not only aesthetically pleasing but also ensures that the fermentation process is optimal. The jar is well-constructed, with a thick, durable material that keeps the temperature stable and promotes even fermentation. Perfect Sauerkraut!
I've now just finished my second run of sauerkraut with this crock, with perfect results... shred cabbage into a large bowl, calculate weight, around 3-4 kg and add a ratio of 2.2% salt... spices if you wish.. I added a tsp of liquid smoke and bay leaves this time as I wanted to make capuzzi garbi (italian version of kraut) plus the bay leaves keeps the brunch in the cabbage (tannin)... after 3rd week and it tastes so good... also I recommend ordering a ph meter, and if your kraut is below 4.5, then you're good and it's safe to eat... This crock is big and ideal for ho.e use, and you'll definitely get through it.. sauerkraut is also very healthy and an amazing prebiotic... so technically you'll have fantastic food and vitamins all in one! It's a win win 🏆

Well made and purposeful ceramic crock jar
Used to make sauerkraut. It is a well made ceramic crock jar. I removed one star from my review because I wasn’t sent the advertised pounder, as shown in the photo. Very disappointed. I paid £40.40 GPD in November ’25.

Fermentation made easy.
This fermentation crock is brilliant, it makes, making Sauerkraut, virtually idiot proof. As long as you make sure the cabbage is fully submerged in the brine, the weights are in place & ensuring the water vapour lock level is nice & high, topping up when needed, the hardest part is not to be tempted to try the Sauerkraut too early. A word of advice though, use some food safe mineral oil on the pounder before first use because the pounding surface is end grain & it absorbs the brine solution & takes ages to air dry out, which could lead to it splitting at some point in the future. I've shredded 3 head of cabbage so far & left for for two weeks, it's turned out salty & tangy & wonderfully crunchy, it's way better than any shop bought Sauerkraut.

Will stand the test of time, excellent quality.
Bought myself this for Christmas- have been using it since. It makes a good amount of sauerkraut in one go and the pounder is really useful too. The size is perfect for our family of five, it looks great in my kitchen, is great value for money and is really well made. It is a solid heavy piece which should stand the test of time. The weights are ceramic and are perfect for keeping the ferment below the brine and keeps everything sealed nicely. Would 100% recommend.

Better than any other vessel
I’ve been fermenting for a while now. I’ve tried fermenting with other vessels, such as killer jars with glass weights, brine bags or cling film, but they have never worked as effectively as this crock. Yes, it’s pricey, but it’s fool-proof. The weights fit and as long as you get your salt calculations right and the kraut fully submerged then you’ll get great kraut every time. I’d recommend either Ferment by Kenji Morimoto or The Culture Club by Dearbhla Reynolds to go with this crock. My absolute favourite it Hola Curtido!

Heavy deposits of black mould formed on unglazed weights. See photo.
Heavy deposits of black mould have formed on the flat unglazed edges of all four weights of the two crock pots purchased. I suspect the reason for this is that the weights are generally glazed except for the flat centre edges. They, unlike the rest of the weight are left completely unglazed and rough in texture. I'm unable to remove this black mould completely as it seems to have penetrated inside the weights and I now feel they are now unsafe and unhealthy for food preparation use. The crock pots themselves are good, I have now concerns with them. Photo attached. I am unable to find the sellers details to contact them.

Das Teil kostet ein wenig Geld, lohnt sich meiner Meinung nach aber. Gerade als Anfänger wollte ich ordentliches Equipment haben, damit die Fermentierung auch einwandfrei funktioniert. Inzwischen habe ich mit dem Teil Unmengen an superleckeres Kimchi und auch einmal Sauerkraut produziert. Alle Teile sind noch 1A in Ordnung. Die Größe ist für mich perfekt. Da geht ordentlich was an Gemüse rein und ich kann den Topf dann nach der gewünschten Fermentationsdauer in den Kühlschrank stellen bis alles aufgegessen ist. Der Stampfer funktioniert prima und die Gewichte tun ihren Job. Bisher hatte ich keinerlei Probleme mit irgendwelchen ekeligen Dingen, der Luftabschluss mit der Wasserrinne funktioniert prima. Alles sauber und gesund. Jetzt läuft mir schon wieder das Wasser im Mund zusammen. Ich werde gleich noch was Gemüse einkaufen und dann eine neue Ladung Kimchi in dem Topf ansetzen.
