As the gym i go to does not allow chalk, only gloves or straps i opted for straps. They arrive much softer than i expected which was nice. Initial use proved excellent, great bar hold, soft feel, no slip, easy to tighten and release. I was told cloth is the most common, but preferred going for leather straps for a more familiar feel and less sweat absorption. . They can get a solid 2-1/2 wraps on a standard olympic bar, which was plenty enough for my hands to hold without direct bar contact. My first use turned into a personal record. Highly recommend If i had a complaint, it's superficial - leather break in... which should be expected anyways.
